Why is stock HEAT at high tiers still a thing?

I’m struggling with playing all the chinese mbt’s from like 9.3 onward right now. It’s just so exhausting an severly limiting to have to play with heat, some tanks are covered in ERA, making most weakspots bedides the lower front plate incredibly unreliable and most tanks in generel can just kill you a whole lot easier with 1 AFSDS round then you can with your HEAT round. Not only is it much more difficult to use a modern tank with heat agains a mbt with a dart, due to having to actually rangefind the enemy and the comparibly eternal time the heat round takes to hit the enemy. The damage heat does is then not only increbebly unrelible, but also due to the small inaccuracy that stock tanks have without the “Adjustment of Fire” modification. Over all HEAT is just another severe diadvantage that stock tanks get, besides the overall worse stats and inability to tank more then 1 single round, due to rapir and fire extingishing still being locked behind modifications. This sucks, is not fun to play and is probably soley in the game so Gajin can annoy the playerbase so heavily that we then spent ge to get this borderline torturous modifications out of the way.

sure, ill just use the HE round that my tank doesnt even have against a leo2A4 frontally, those 30mm of pen will surely go through the 400mm of armor

Two answers to that.
1: a long time ago (not really) people made complaints about how some tanks start off with only HEAT/HEAT-FS. Gaijin, in their infinite wisdom, decided to “fix” it by making everyone start off with HEAT-FS.
2: literally stress you out so then you buy GE just so you can buy better rounds.

Youd be surprised how well russian HE shells work in antitank role.

He is using the VT5 which doesnt exactly have a real HE round. It has a VT shell which has much less tnt.

using HE I have used one of your tank. The Leo 2 is literally one of the tank with paper armor in the tier.

Modifications are basically designed to be a pay-to-skip mechanic. So the more infuriating it is, the more money they’ll make. For example. With HMS Vanguard I will probably GE the AP round the moment I unlock it because I refuse to try and do any matches with just SAP at 8.0+ in NRB. I made a thread for it to get AP stock but it probably wont.

Because Gaijin hates you and want to squeeze every ounce of money from you before you inevitably get frustrated enough to stop playing

Admittedly I’m only up to the ZTZ 88 so I can’t say I’ve been in your shoes specifically. However, I am currently stock grinding the German T-72 and have played through nearly all the russain ground vehicles so I am familiar with the 125mm HEAT-FS stock grind.

Currently there’s a rank I ammo upgrade for a basic dart on the T-72s, which provides some relief from the HEAT-FS grind, however I haven’t check if there’s similar shell for chinese tanks.

Personally, I haven’t noticed it holding me back on my current T-72A stock grind in Germany. The biggest challenge I find at 9.3+ isn’t armour as much not hitting crucial modules following a successful pen. So I tend to be more succesful hitting ammo this grind being my third time around, (T-64A > T-72A ussr > T-72A Ger). I completely opt out of long range exchanges as the shell velocity on the HEAT-FS is it’s main let down, I play it like an ambush hunter at close ranges until I unlock the best ammo and range finder upon which I switch to a passive sniping playstyle (thanks to community advice) which has taken me from a negative k/d in the T-72A to a 2:1 (My T-64A stats are too far gone lol)
