Why is spotting at top tier so bad?

Spotting at top tier straight up feels worse than props. It feels like the second you move up into fox3 brs your pilot decides to pluck their eyes out. Is it something about the speed of the planes that changes the spotting range ? My basic crew can spot props at 10km just fine but my experted top tier crews sometimes doesnt spot till 2km

Bumping this because it’s straight up moronic. As if 16v16 lobbies weren’t stupid enough.

Imo the main issue isnt the lack of nametags. People sometimes just dont render

I feel this at 9.3 with the F106. I drag someone to a secluded place, start a lower speed fight, and find out it was a 1v3 all along. When speeds reach 1k KMH I think spotting ranges should be extended for gameplay’s sake.

That’s probably because there is a teammate near that enemy, so you’re spotting by proxy.

In my experience (for outright not rendering).

  1. Hazy Weather
  2. They’re in front of a cloud and the game can’t decide if they’re occluded or not. (note: the cloud can be five or more kilometers away from them. It still seems to break stuff.)
  3. Evening maps tend to be worse but not as significantly as hazy weather or cloud occlusion issues.

These might be the case but enemies not rendering is just stupid. Thats just poor game design. Render distance alsochanges depending on if ur facing the sun so it gives you or the enemy an unfair advtange aswell

That happens too but I can spot people from 10km even when there are no friendlies alive

Oh I’m in full agreement it’s stupid. I’m just saying that I’ve observed that I usually feel like I’m playing a horror game with planes phasing into reality when it’s during these conditions more often than otherwise.

Some time ago, aircraft rendering was broken. A patch was introduced that partially fixed this issue. Even before that bug, I remember that when playing either prop planes or jets, rendering looked like this for me:

  • an aircraft on the other side of the map could sometimes be seen as a white dot,
  • an aircraft that was closer appeared as a black dot,
  • an aircraft a few kilometers away would start to take shape.

Currently, I can only see an aircraft (enemy) if it is within 20 km (I checked with radar)as a black dot. No white dots anymore. Allies seem to be visible from a greater distance.

After like 20km they just dont render afaik. Like straight up you cant see them unless you use your radar
