Why is Red Square in the game full of houses? Is that true?

I’ve played over 5,000 games, and this was my first time exploring Moscow in the game.

Of course, I did it in a custom room. It was really fun and helped me escape the exhaustion of battles.

I recognized Mausoleum of Lenin, the famous GUM, the State Historical Museum, and St. Vasily’s Cathedral.

But why is there a row of houses in the middle of Red Square? Does it correspond to historical facts of that time?

I’m not blaming anyone, nor do I want to put pressure on the development team. As a tourist, I’m just curious if this is true, as it’s a little different from what I know. Because the Soviet Union held a world-famous military parade here during World War II.

Yes, but not the way is represented in-game. In the XIX century til today, Red Square is more empty, centuries early it had some buildings here and there, for reference:

XIX century — present

So yes, it’s not accurate since this Red Square represents the most historical recent of it, post Russian Civil War I may assume.

Maybe it is fake housing erected there in 1941 to confuse German bombers.

Wow thank you so much! I even learn more things from your reply!

This is also a very interesting speculation, and reasonable :D

Interesting - it’s not the WW2 camo tho - there were no “houses” in the square and Lenin’s tomb was disguised plus the roofs of the Kremlin buildings were all painted rusty-brown -

It’s probably like how D.C. isn’t geographically correct in Fallout 3. Certain places even when just being a monument or historical place have to be altered. It’s not too far fetched to believe a foreign entity like a terrorist group would use maps from a military game to plan something.

Or maybe Gaijin just wanted to spice it up
