Literally the only thing you guys are losing out on is BOL a 11.3. That’s it. One modification. @Pheonix_RX01 and in return we get actual historical accuracy with an interesting early AMRAAM jet. The 37D was made Because of the amraam integration.
I’m 100% sure the Viggen would not be higher than 12.7 with its RB99. It’s just a 7M with active seeker and loft. There’s jets at 12.0 with 6 7M’s which by the way have MUCH better flight performance and radar than Viggen. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 37D at 12.3. it’s the earliest AMRAAM too pretty much, and can only carry 4 of them.
It’s not “just a 7M” it’s far more maneuverable, and you underestimate active seekers by far.
I don’t think the JA37D is op rn, it get up tiers all the time. if you fix the matchmaker and make it face only 3rd gen airframes which what supposed to happen ages ago, ye it will be good.
Id rather keep the C how it is cause i like it at 11.0 and the D can go up if you are so desperate to have it be fucked by f16’s because the meta until they change how radars work will be to hug the ground. Thats why i dont think rb99’s are a good idea.
Also be careful about calling the mirages OP youll be sent death threats like i have when i said they felt under Br’d idk french air mains hate sweden having a decent delta wing but the french air tree is insanely fun and im tired of french main telling me the mirages suffer.
Finland never operated the R-13M1 (M1s were never exported), they used the R-13M which is sorta an in-between of the AIM-9D and E.

There is 2 variants that can be realistically added, the J-35BS (J-35B) with the main difference between the Swedish ones is that Sweden tested AGM’s on their J-35B’s (more specifically the RB-05) while the Finnish variants did not. The other variant is the J-35FS which is a J-35F-1, it did got all the upgrades that the XS had. I do have an idea to make it different from the XS though. The FS’s most powerful AAM will be the R-13M’s while the XS will get R-13M’s ontop of their AIM-9’s, it also means it could be placed at a lower BR
Swedish J-35 did equip CM pods in the form of the Kaspel KB pods but only on the S-35E variant, the recce variant based on the J-35D

If gaijin cared about historical accuracy then the ja37 would have much better flight performance and its engines wouod have their correct values vut they dont. Its pretty noticeable that gaijin is pick and choose with what they want to fix and because they dont give a damn about the viggen’s inaccuracies id rather they at least keep dont fuck them over anymore. Because them being glorified missiles carriers isnt fun.
“glorified missile carriers” it’s a better than decent dogfighter in either case, not rank 8 airframe good, but rank 7, giving it amraams would help it out, giving it good missiles, and making it something that can actually handle a current uptier, instead of getting slaughtered
It would get moved up even higher in NR with amraams like 12.0 or maybe higher. it just depends on how Gaijin wants to balance them, which is why im against the idea of them being added to the D. Warthunder had always had a problem with conpression and unfortunately i domt want to play a viggen which until they remove multi pathing, hugging the deck will still be the meta not to mention after im out of my 2 RB 99’s im again just free food for all the other planes with great performance. Now, if it gets more decompressed, I’d be fine, but i doubt gajin will do that.
the JA37D has 4 Amraams, you can just do like the tomcats, shoot and return to base

I 100% agree with adding RB74 to the JA37C and amraams to the D. Funny thing is that the C also used the BOL pods historically so the in-game D is what the C should be (iirc even the cockpit is still the same in game)

ik this is old but Rb-27 was always the passive radar version of the AIM-4 and same for the Rb-28, simply no reason to buy a worse IR missile, i bet sweeden would’ve bought the AIM-9C if it was avalible i bet
