Most glass canons are not consistent…that is part of my point…FV4005 is not worse than almost all russian TDs (as an example) that have slow reloads and inconsistent shells…
Every week i get a shot with a great gun absorbed by an optics module or hit a unarmored vehicle for minimal effect…not limited to Fv4005…
They have other issues…and in the end this is a matter of defining the correct BR for the gun and specific issues of each vehicle…
The issue of inconsistent gun is more GENERAL IMHO…it happens in all vehicles in the game and it is more annoying in glass canons as they are very vulnerable to return fire…
Not specially worse in FV4005
AGAIN…if HESH should be stronger…i admit i don’t know…but bear in mind that if made (much) stronger it may actually INCREASE the BR(s)…beware what you wish for…
EDIT:
I would be fine with a FV4005 with a stronger gun at same BR…“gut feeling” i dont’t see an issue…but you have to “sell” this to devs…not me :)
its not even that bad bro chill goofy British mains, I bring my centurion mk.5 avrd or whatever to top tier and its soooo good it gets me 100000 nukes.
The topic is NOT about HESH…that would be here (for instance):
My comments are that Fv4005 is playable as many other glass canons and that i can have an opinion on.
Also suggested that making a point may be better with less hyperbole. Bear in mind THERE ARE lots of posts on this topic that seem to me to be accurate…
It is not a playable tank. It is used more as a meme tank than as a tank of any significant value in a battle…
It is armed with a naval artillery cannon that fired a round that was designed to take out fortifications.
The 76mm HESH on the scorpion light tank was enough to throw foot long scabs off a several inch thick plate. These scabs would have been moving through the tank at near Mach 1.
something like FV4005 would be about 7.3 with an accurate shell true, don’t think the AVRE will go up much if at all considering the range on the demolition charge. Id be fine with this as it would be facing (and able to easily kill) its intended targets.
war thunder is consistently inconsistent even with the most reliable ordinance, HESH is by far the least reliable In game to the point of it being next to useless.
I have my 4005 and AVRE relegated to getting a hitmaker on spawncampers that are inside our spawn duties only nowadays
I only wish the AVRE has range finder so I can do indirect fire to troll the enemies lol this thing is not something easy to master, hitting targets above 600m requires you to have zero margin for error, just 50m off in the sight setting you can completely miss the target.
What? its renowned across almost everywhere in WT that the FV4005 is a meme tank due to how unreliable HESH is, no ones asking for it to be turned into a super weapon at all.
You are being extremely childish with your interactions
I find great success with it.
I agree it could be improved , however I wont complain about it’s characteristics.
It’s no MBT and do not expect such.
I expect a fkin massive tank destroyer that is easy to kill with a large silhouette and a long reload time with bad mobility… That is what I get.
In return I 1 shot the vast majority of whatever I fire my gun at - should I get into position.
Hesh leaves A LOT to be desired, agreed, but complaining about other characteristics is just silly imo.
If your KD is negative with it then you are not having great success.
Theres a difference between you find it fun to it being good.
So ill respond here in relation as well to what you said above…
no one said they want anything else changed BAR making hesh more effective, the tank is a huge 183mm cannon mounted in a fking shed, on a cent hull.
There is nothing in the world that would make it faster, and as you accurately say its a box, nothing will change that.
And no one is asking for that, they’re saying with how laughably bad hesh is especially on the 183mm gun, that it needs lowered in BR or for the hesh to be remodelled.
Personally i dont use it as ive never found the hesh reliable for a 30 second reload.
However i have used it and the hesh is ridiculously incosistent
Can slam a btr80 with it and turn the crew yellow.
Then whiff a shot and demolish an IS4 , it needs some form of consistency brought to it.
The bottom line is that it’s a 183mm nuke, it should hit like one, and it absolutely does not.
You can drop a bomb, with less filler, near a tank and get a kill. Absurd.
“Test firing of the L4 against a Conqueror and a Centurion proved how powerful the round was. In 2 shots, the 183 mm HESH shell blew the turret clean off the Centurion, and split the mantlet of the Conqueror in half. HESH could also serve as a dual-use round just as capable of engaging enemy armor as for use as a high-explosive round against buildings, enemy defensive positions, or soft-skinned targets.”
It should be the ultimate glass cannon in the game. It has a larger cannon than any other tank, hell it’s larger than close to half the bluewater ships out there. It should mangle whatever it hits. Only an engine deck shot on a heavy tank should have a chance of survival, and even then it should probably just be overpressured.
