This thing always comes up but is basically worse than the stuh. It has almost the same power to weight ratio as the stuh (13,64 vs 12,3 hp/t for the stuh), while having the same gun and no armor.
So basically a 2.3 or 2.7 vehicle at max. Why do so many people say this could fill the gap when it is clearly worse than the puma?
It currently fills a gap below the Puma, actually.
Way I see it, since Puma is now 3.7, it should be Rank III. With the Puma continuing to go up in BR, it would be nice to have something below it that’s not the Ic (a lovely premium, but a premium nonetheless).
To fill the gap above the Puma, I would introduce the other two vehicles I mentioned (Kurz and SWIII) and introduce a tech tree version of the PaK Puma.

yeah at a lower br it would be a cool vehicle. I like the heat slingers in general but on other topics many people overestimated that vehicle.

Yeah these would be cool options and none except the Sonderwagen 3 would be c&p, but I am waiting more than 2 years that something gets added. Created the topic in July 2023 and I probably had one on the old forum aswell

Now that I see it again a M41 with only solid shot would be possible aswell. China did get one at 5.7 two years ago: M41A3 (China) | War Thunder Wiki
I think that wouldnt be to problematic either with c&p since germany already has a m41

And even the SW is honestly pretty “light” C&P, since the base version Germany purchased was the FV601D. So you could have different Saladins in different trees.
A version of the M41A3 would also help.
Tbh, I’m sure all of this stuff will eventually come to the game, the only question is when, and it depends on what content plan they have for this stuff. I just hope they don’t make them all events or BPs. Because light vehicles are fun and popular there’s a tendency to keep them away from the regular tech trees these days, and that’s bad for balance.

Sonderwagen III has an outdated suggestion with missing pictures and the quote: The vehicles were not used by the Bundeswehr which makes addition quite unlikely
it would be the first time a Police vehicles (BGS) is added to the game
Edit: on SpPz Kurz, do you mean SdKfz. 231 6 Wheeled or HS.30?
neither would be worth being Rank 3 tbh
Edit 2: That Saladin fires 76mm HESH only, what makes you think it’s worthy of Rank III? it’ll have problems penetrating most Rank 2 tanks

The Border police used 92 Sonderwagen 3 so not a small amount. The Borderpolice at the time was heavily armed so i dont know why it cant be added. They used M8 grehounds etc. aswell.

80 mm regardless of angle isnt that bad for 4.0 - 5.0 tbh. Problem is that hesh is bugged since ages.
80mm pen hesh can pen T-34s reliable for example on the ufp.

you’re suggesting a slightly slower Wiesel(7.0) , wirh the SAME gun as the Wiesel as a Rank III light tank?

Do you know about the sub1-2 and amx10p? Both are 5.7/6.0. This thing doesnt have thermals unlike the wiesel on a worse platform

80mm pen with hesh. So 80mm pen at 0°, 30° and 60°.

HESH hasn’t positively impacted BR of any Vehicle that has it
this gun compares to the Short 75mm on the Early Pz.IVs
That’s why I wrote it they need to fix hesh first. Right now even if hesh would pen it does sometimes nothing. Early Pz4s have heat which in theory cant pen T-34s ufp while the hesh round could

theres no way rhis will be Rank III+, at best Well see it at rank II, if not lower
