Why Gaijin hate Solid Shot?

I have played some ranks in the British tech tree and the solid shot it uses Hell Nah! I know British Tanks are good overall but its ammo choices Nah Man. Almost 70 - 85% of my shots keeps breaking or disappear in thin air like noclipping into the backrooms even in the weak spots. I have searched in their doctrines and history and honestly it has more pen and can do a lot of damage (I know it’s spalling is not great) but overall, it was pretty good. Can you tell me why it is happening with me or everyone have encounter it. If I am wrong, please correct me and teach me as I am a new player. Thank You.

Yea I sometime use that, but normal solid shots is the main problem. Like APBC, AP and APC if I am grinding the tank

A common complaint with bri*ish AP rounds. All you can really do is aim good and suffer as your shell either bounces off or does minimal damage, while most players get to enjoy some variant of busted APHE that only needs to penetrate for an instant kill.
I guess you do start getting good vehicles around 8.0, notably absolute cancer like Eland 90, Falcon, and Fox. So wait for that and things should get better

You mean the Falcon at 8.3 with no APDS and garbage radar?

It’s the good 'ol British tax that is applied in this game…

Use APDS as you would use other “special ammo” in situations where you need more pen, dont treat it as regular ammo.

Other than that, i dont know what to say. The AP ammo usually works for me with exceptions like coupola shots, but otherwise in my experience it simply shreds.

Firefly is just point and click adventure.

Concept 3 was the shit for me.
Dropped a nuke and almost earned a couple at 6.7 with it.

Solid shot isn’t the best shell, but it can do the job

Have you tried fireflies or centurions? These are absolute blast to play.

And the Vickers mkI with 5 sec reload at 8.0 is just nuts.

Well you’re gonna use APDS there cuz only other option is coughheshcough.

On a tangent, but keeping with UK, gotta say trying to mod the Matilda III from stock must be the most frustrating experience of modding ever. The gun, for a 2.7 Heavy is weak, and the stock ammo is like throwing pebbles. Holy crap it sucks.

Gaijin hates solid AP, APCR and APDS. It really makes no sense. I’ve fought for years to change it but it really seems like most people only care about their nuke APHE.

I despised centurions
Just too damn slow

Firefly was ok

Because Gaijin doesn’t realise how much of a Significant Emotional Event it is to have a lump of metal punch through your armour

its just balance it as most AP or solid shot has a lot more pen then equivalent rounds with Filler. meaning most solid shots can pen places most other tanks cant.

For example: TIGRIS if angled due to add on track armor it receives in that spot makes it IMMUNE to the M4A3 76 and T34-85 on the corners of the armor BUT the SHOT MK8 has enough pen to go through said armor at 190MM compared to M4A3 76 with 140

though there are solid shots that dont have pen bonus like M72 vs M61 the M61 filler has more pen and filler the rounds that perform like M72 deserve to be buffed

i rather liked the 6.0 one and the firefly was very fun

yea, im not having much trouble with the 17 pounder, at least for the time being, got recently an 10 kill game with the 5.3 challenger and been getting decent kills with them rn, even when i need more than one shot per kill the fast reload helps alot

I wouldn’t necessarily say they hate solid shot. It’s more the game is based entirely around APHE being completely misrepresented and both Gaijin & community are too afraid to correct it.

Solid shot is performing relatively realistically. APHE acting like a grenade and never failing to fuse are massive issues.

APCR and HESH also need to be looked into, APCR is almost never worth taking and shatters far too frequently. APDS shares some APCR issues but isn’t nearly as bad.

The 17 pounder and 76mm are different guns. The performance difference is from velocity, not solid AP vs APHE.

I actually over time changed a bit my mind on the Aphe debate, and think a more correct depiction of detonation should be implemented.

Yeah, unfortunately that idea got shut down.
