APHE is just overpowered but the playerbase voted against it in a vote to test changes
It is certainly a whiplash if you switch from maining APHE.
There are some issues with AP but it is overall much better than it used to be. I remember pre-French AP which was god awful.
The only big bad experience I have with shell shattering is with APCR everything else is almost the same in that aspect maybe low pen APDS too.
Your probable using AP rounds, these shatter oft, becouse of volocity etc. That why there is APCBS, the Capped shell prevents of shattering. Most of the britsh tanks have APCBC shells, your proably using the wrong one
Even high pen APDS can shatter. But if you really want to experience shattering in this game paly anything with HVAP
You are not wrong. I am NOT sure if realistic, but 2pdr and 6pdr guns are not as effective as i expected. They USUALLY pen, but rarely kill targets on first shot.
The way to do it is hitting relevant modules or crew…but TBH this is not easy in longer range shots…a good thing in these guns is rate of fire, so i end up shooting a lot and hoping for the best…
IMPORTANT…don’t repeat shots on the exact same place…if the first one did nothing then the following N will also do nothing (unless target moves)…and some players do it for big N numbers…
If close enough i try to aim to the gun/gunner OR a know ammo rack. Again…this often does not work…
British tanks are fun but unnerving sometimes…it does get reasonably better once you get to 17pdr gun…not sure above it. There is a Cromwell that is surprisingly good as it has a different gun with either APHE or APCBC…
This is a simple error in the damage model that they haven’t bothered to fix. Initially, practically all tanks used APHE rounds, and the developers modeled the damage incorrectly. The problem arose when they added nations that didn’t use this type of ammunition, as leaving it as it was created a huge imbalance (at first, full AP rounds did virtually no damage). It took several years for full AP rounds to achieve even minimally decent damage, and even then, APHE rounds still had a massive advantage.
The problem you mentioned with bullets disappearing might have been happening for a while. For the past few years, I’ve noticed that the game randomly cancels your shots, making them disappear or do no damage. This seems to happen to all types of bullets, but curiously, APHE bullets are the least affected by this randomness (from what I’ve noticed). It’s common for full AP bullets to ricochet while APHE bullets penetrate and kill.
I’ll just give you one piece of advice. If you’re a fan of armored vehicles and you like moving them around the map, fine, but don’t focus on finding a balance in the game. Just play however you think is best, and don’t worry about whether you’re getting killed a lot, or if your shots aren’t doing any damage, because you’ll only end up getting frustrated and angry, since the devs (unless they have a stroke) aren’t going to change the horrible damage model of the different bullets in the slightest.
HVAP is APCR for autocannons.
Yes and no, in game on Aircraft they are often called HVAP, but IRL the differentiation is simply between British and US name.
Maybe
Thanks bro
👍Ok
more goes into shell penetration than velocity alone not to mention this game uses a unrealistic penetration calculator instead of actual stats of vehicle
a solid shot round out of same gun as a APHE round will be 10% heavier due to HE filler being less dense than steel
Well that is irrelevant to what I said anyway. APCR and APDS sometimes shatter but HVAP shatters if a slight breeze hits it.
Eh, works for me.
Nonetheless the AP issues arent as big as people make them out to be. Tanks that have AP rounds only usually bring some other advantage to th le table which people tend to overlook
I never said it was only about velocity but the velocity difference between the 17 pounder and 76mm is significant.
