Why doesn't the game have Anti-Tank (AT) Mines? A proposal to buff Light Vehicles

Hi everyone,

I’ve been thinking about the vehicle balance in our current meta, and a question popped into my mind: Why are there no Anti-Tank (AT) mines in the game?

Right now, Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) heavily dominate the frontline, while light armored vehicles (LTs/scout cars) often find themselves in an awkward spot—they can’t win a head-on fight, and they get easily one-shotted even when attempting flanks. If the devs allowed Light Armored Vehicles to equip AT mines, I believe it would significantly improve the tactical depth of the game.

Here is how adding AT mines could create a much healthier game eco:

1. Reviving Dead Content: Giving “Anti-Mine Armor” a Purpose

As we all know, some MBTs can actually equip Anti-Mine Armor. However, because there are literally zero mines in the game right now, and this armor reduces mobility and top speed, absolutely no one uses it. It’s completely dead content. If AT mines became a real threat, MBT players would finally have a meaningful choice to make:

  • Risk running a high-speed glass cannon build and getting tracked by a mine.
  • Sacrifice mobility for the safety and survivability of anti-mine plating. This brings back the psychological warfare and risk-vs-reward element to vehicle customization.

2. Giving Light Vehicles a “David vs. Goliath” Tactical Edge

Light vehicles lack armor, but they have speed. By giving them access to AT mines, light vehicle players could utilize their early-game mobility to rush key choke points, narrow passes, or capture zones to set up defensive minefields. This wouldn’t just slow down aggressive MBT pushes and buy time for the team to reposition; it would also give light vehicles a smart, strategic way to outplay heavy armor instead of just running away in fear.

🛠️ Addressing the Elephant in the Room: Griefing & Team-killing?

Whenever mines are brought up, the community immediately worries about toxic teammates or accidental team-killing. However, the devs can easily fix this with simple mechanics:

  • Option A: Full friendly-fire immunity. Friendly mines simply cannot be triggered by teammates.
  • Option B: Friendly mines are always highlighted on the minimap/HUD for teammates to avoid.
  • Option C: Stepping on a mine only causes temporary tracking (mobility immobilization) without dealing actual damage, lowering the penalty for accidents.

Conclusion

Adding AT mines seems like a win-win-win situation: it stops brainless MBT rushing, gives light vehicles a defined tactical role, and saves a completely useless armor modification from being forgotten.

What do you guys think? Would you like to see AT mines added for light vehicles, or do you think it would become too toxic for the meta? Let’s discuss!

If you want to create a suggestion you can do so in the suggestion section here on the forum. That section is however pre-moderated and only posts that follow their rules and guidelines will get posted and it can take a couple of weeks for a post to get reviewed for publication. If it gets accepted and made public it then has a chance to get sent to the developers as a suggestion later on.

Actually already one up

Super AI post

The AI knows nothing about mbt-tier lol

You’re right, this post is a duplicate; I didn’t do my research. But should I delete this post?

I will not post again my views on balance etc. This seems like a good idea but it does not fit the game play. It is a shallow shoot em up, capture the flag/death match mix.
This type of idea is really for a longer term strategy game not really War Blunders genre.

Perhaps transfer anything different over to it. But it’s not.on you, the search function is a pain at times, and I only knew because I recall seeing it before. Search for mines and you just get minesweepers

This sounds god awful.

How about artillery launched anti tank mines at higher tiers?

Would give a reason to bring artillery and would be a unique role for those vehicles. It would also give a reason for vehicles with mine protection modifications to equip them.

Obviously not allowing to mine the enemy spawn.
