Why doesn't anyone seem to care about the aim-120 AMRAAM's lack of WVR Performance

these are some screenshots from the second video linked in the original post

I have marked added a straight line roughly parallel to the edge of the rail (it is actually angled slightly outward such that it is connected at the furthest back point of the rail, but slightly away from the front edge)

as you can see the missile is being guided with its fins are already pulling AOA and by the time it is past the nose of the plane it is already angled well off the planes bore sight

so I believe it is safe to say that the guidance delay should be reduced for rail launched AMRAAMs

this video also clearly is showing an AIM-120A/B as the fins are not clipped like they are on the AIM-120C and later

“not enough info” and thrown into the void like everything else

yeah its obvious rail launched missiles have lower guidance delays than their dropped counter parts. but gaijin doesnt accept video evidence

Not only that, but you can also see the fin rotating in the screenshots

I left the post like a day, wtf happened I thought this one died.
Also while looking back through why was someone who has never used the AMRAAM’s posting on a discussion related to the AMRAAM’s underperforming slightly I feel like for a topic with this much nuance you probably should have a couple matches in a AMRAAM carriers.

However I respect the determination to play only Russian Air that would have sucked like hell 3 years ago when it was actually a pretty sad toptier.

Edit: Because this got flagged by someone, This is not “Ad hominem” this is simply saying that an argument when the user never tested the thing being discussed and argued about kinda causes misinformation, lol.

The fact I have to add this edit is stupid, is their no way to get a mod to review, not that its worth it anyways wasn’t a significant comment worth bothering a mod over.

Yes, the R-77-1 beats them at these ranges, now the AIM-120 is the worst top tier ARH by a good margin

crazy how often this happens

It barely turns above 20ish Gs because of the anemic AoA, it’s pathetic for an ARH missile.

But hey, we’re allegedly wrong for asking to get it fixed because of reasons like “It won’t change anything”, “Other missiles should also be buffed” or basically opinionated nonsense and spam.

the max it reaches in the clip is 24.4G but thats after the amraam has built up all of its speed and is trying to hit a very fast and maneuvering target

This is actually so sad to see lmao. If this pace keeps up, we are in for a hell of a meta when newer ARH missiles are added.

First thing ic is that you were too slow to begin with hindering the aim 120 ability to reach its proper speeds adding to the fact that it had to maneuver right after launch

Are yall even debating here??
Is it not clear that the AIM-120 is pretty bad? Or that the AMRAAM is not only available only to the U.S.? and some buffs will give most countries new capabilities?.
The French mains don’t want their mica to be matched, and relax it probably won’t. Giving the AMRAAM WVR performance won’t match the MICA, maybe a better seeker gating, but this thread is for the maneuverability issues only

WVR turn performance could be somewhat dismissed if the seeker was even slightly better to enhance BVR and tracking outside of knife fight in phonebooth furball. But that’s beating a horse that’s so dead it has been mummified and placed in a snail shaped tomb.

the problem with the seeker gating, is that the devs have said through the bug report mods that bc WT does not implement ECCM, they will not do anything to update the seeker head. so with that in mind i focused the post towards WVR performance as that has not been hard denied.

This results in the AIM-120D and the Meteor having Sparrow seeker while the PL-15 will be based of propaganda

yup sound about right.

What propaganda?
This sounds like cope tbh

we don’t have any info on the PL-15 seeker so it will have to most likely be based on propaganda statistics and Gaijin’s own guesstimate, also side note their statistics could be realistic but they have shown a trend similar to Russia with over promoting their technology, the west does this as well to be honest, however much less frequently which is why it has generated trust while Russia and China have this stereotype.
