Why does this game have the most sterile atmosphere?

You’re going to make a lot of friends here (not that you’ve done that already) by claiming other people are racists purely because they got muted once.

You don’t get permanently chat banned from one offense.

Weird of your post to claim people get chat banned permanently just for one offense…

you do know if you send one message and then try to send another in under 20 seconds it temp mutes you for a minute, right? the content of the message is irrelevant

Weird, it’s almost like nobody brought up permanent chat bans but you.

Oh I never did, you just gaslight.

I suggest you stop inciting flame wars by calling other people racists without evidence. It’s a bad look.

chat ban != perma ban, if you’re banned for a day from the game (like when crashing with bombers with lots of bombs gave you a silly amount of RP) it doesn’t mean you’re perma banned from the game

ban != permanent

That’s not true.

It’s a 10 second cooldown, with smaller cooldowns when for when you send messages less than 10 seconds after the last message.

hm, maybe i just type too fast

Could we please keep the thread respectful? It’s totally fine to disagree with other members but there’s no need to bring in personal attacks.

Yes, who the hell cares if people write dumb stuff in chat. At least people were using chat back then. Nowadays it’s radio silence most of the time.

Feel free to set the example

Would’ve been better if your posts were curious rather than combative. I don’t like to reply to combative posts.
It appears I avoided posting combative statements toward you and I hope you appreciate that I did not make aggressive posts in your direction.

I edit posts because of mistypes, as I was taught to do by at least a dozen English professors at this point, and what is universally taught.

Granted, I try my best to catch them before hitting Reply, but many times I miss them and have to edit after the fact.

So yeah, Ion said what I was thinking but couldn’t type due to other things on the mind.

I’ve tried, the community doesn’t care. I’ve been called a racial slur more often as a response to “GLHF” than actually nice comments.

i got team killed once for it :D

some bad apples spoil the bunch, sadly

In war thunder, the game is the basket that collects rotten apples. It’s just that some good apples SOMETIMES fall in by ACCIDENT.

As in, you have it backwards. The majority of the vocal community is toxic.

You shouldn’t have been.
Of course WT has attracted toxic habits from Rust, League, and elsewhere in recent years.
2018 didn’t have people blaming their team or hating rewards so much that they leave only after one death.

We need to be good to one another, cause if we aren’t then the toxic habits of strangers consume our minds.

The answer - I’m convinced - is super simple, and rather unfortunate: Queue times. Quick queue time is WT’s secret sauce. Without it, the player count would hemorrhage numbers and the game would suffer a rapid demise. Anything that is perceived by the devs to broaden the dynamic of gameplay - especially in regard to teamwork and player interaction in general - is viewed (again, I’m assuming here) as negatively impactful on queue times. Naval is a case study writ large - long queue times, no player base to speak of.

Some of us started switching off chat cause of the racism in chat, especially in ARB.

Prop tier ASB chat seems quite talkative. Sterile, maybe, “see X as Y” or “c6” or “approaching bomber from 3/9/12” or “anyone can give escort?” but lively. Had quite a few games where my team ended up improptu organizing a proper attack run on a bomber formation and none of us died despite enemy fighters also being present (and me panicking and thinking a guy on my six was the enemy so tried to scare them off. Was a corsair apparently. Luckily my aim sucks). That was a lot of fun. This is on top of the standard T41 and T42 callouts.

Very small sample size, but I also found Dover Strait tends to attract more LARPy people who are happy to fly formations for no reward and to just do stuff for sake of vibes and funnies despite bad reward (like torpedo bombing convoys in hellcats).

Flipside I also occasionally see trashtalking, like a zero complaining nobody wants to turnfight them by calling the american team various things. Or just random self-ego stroking of questionable quality.

Being able to see the same names repeatedly probably contributes. You can even see fellow forum posters at times!

To be fair, I’ve been playing for 12 years and I’ve been chat banned, but you can’t explain to someone that you’re chat banned, you can only use the responses that you have, so always best to ask “are you chat banned” and see “affirmative” or “well done” then you know haha

But a lot more people have been chat banned tbf
