Yeah, we needed mutlirole and a QRA interceptor. F-22 is neither of those things
Just do the opposite of what we did with tornado
Instead of turning a ground attack we turn a pure fighter to ground attack

Isn’t the reason they got retired early is that the F35B was supposed to be ready in 2012 or something

I think so, that was when both FA2 and Gr7/9 were planned to be retired by, because it would be ready (though FA2 was retired in 2006)
But even then, 2-3 dozen Harriers would probably have been handy in Op Shader, supporting the Typhoons. But I think they needed Modernising, so would have cost money

The ETPS is ran by both the MOD (the British Government) and QinetiQ (private company). The MOD is not the RAF.
I wrote “operate”, not “own”, and was merely pointing out the associations the UK has with Gripen.
But it’s just a game. Gaijin can do, and has done, what it likes.

Respectfully, no. The F1 has probably even less going for it than the Tornado and Phantoms. Apart from the Magic 2s.
If ya want something competitive for Britain, we’ve got it: the Gripen. And we actually do use 1. It’s a Gripen D and that i know of it doesn’t carry weapons mind you but still.
Unrealistic? Yes, absolutely daft for us to have it on the grounds of ETPS.
Bad idea? No. Unless we want Britain to struggle bus until the Typhoon rocks up in about 5 years lol.
