If they are going to do it might as well go all the way
J16 gets 12 missiles, no double racks
they would have been able to have a F-15E late with 229 engines and the modern avionics alot sooner if they didnt throw an absolute fit over not having 229 engines which also lead to the acceleration and compression of the top end and contributed to worsening the CAS imbalance.
I love this thread, gets you to believe the f15 sucks ass, even though its still scary to fight up high, and can pressure entire teams from above or force you to defend at long ranges

Any jet up high with good missiles, Radar and flight performance can pressure any other jet.
I have pressured a MiG 29 in a Tornado using Skyflash up high.
F-15 has one party trick and it’s that flying high with lots of missiles.
Su-30 has more than one party trick and I would wager 1 v 1 the Su-30 would come out on top 75% of the time.
How? do you seriously think the Rafale and EFT weren’t planned and likely already almost done for the december update? and the Hornet and Su-30SM were also likely already way in the works and planned for the march 2025 update.
I don’t see how a plane getting an engine that was already being added on another plane accelerated anything.
yeah, it wins the 1v1 because that thing can just flip its nose around and look at you the whole time and fling an r73 and kablooey youre dead. But from my limited top tier experience, the early climb and BVR joust decides a win, and thats where the f15 shines, so yeah, its a one trick pony, but god damn is it a good pony
It stopped the US receiving probably a more capable F-15C
and instead they just upgraded the engines on the F-15E

F-15 is faster I agree with you, but 120s from 40km away are so easy to defend against
As the distance reduces and the altitude inevitably decreases the Su-30 has the advantages.
Superior radar and payload all come into effect, R-77-1 is better at shorter ranges and if you want to guarantee a kill shoot off an R-77-1 while locked send an R-27ER after it.
F-15 has 120s and 8 of them great missiles but in certain situations they are weaker than the R-77-1
Aim9M is also a great missile but not as flexibile as the Su-30s options.
Except that the aircraft would have been a directly inferior aircraft to it’s Israeli counterpart, adding the engines to it made it identical, thus, actually balanced. The E as is, is fine, yet, still a frankenplane like most other US aircraft as it sports equipment that indicate it is a far later model (JHMCS, GBU-39) yet has equipment that was divested long before said late model components (LITENING, pre- E GBUs).
Nah that started with the KA-50 and peaked with the KH-38MT, that imbalance has yet to be resolved to this day. The best A2G weapon the F-15E sports is the AGM-65D which is grossly inferior to the KH-38MT and is backed up by an inferior targeting pod to what the current Russian CAS options sport, namely because the MT itself has a comically good seeker. Until the KH-38MT is removed, no nation can come even remotely close to Russia in CAS quality.
honestly i rarely see anyone shoot aim120s from that far away, >30km seems to be the norm
I don’t think the simple engine change would have stopped Gaijin from adding an aircraft that they were already working on.
I think they knew the Hornet would be getting it’s own update in march anyway. In their infinite wisdom they thought that the 18C Late would be a EFT/Rafale counterpart so I don’t think they bothered with a better F-15C yet because of that.
Even at 30km 120s are not scary, as long as you determine where the missile is coming from and defend correctly you can beat most 120s.
For a good while the US 15E one was straight up better because the 15I didn’t have mavs.
in the rafale? yeah easy, just turn around and go faster, for other jets though i think its a bit more work and most players are lazy hah

im part of those, i wasnt ready for how stupid fast the rafale was and i ripped probably 30 times at least when checking something out alt tabbed
