Right now, the F/A-18C and F-15E are severely disadvantaged in top-tier air battles due to being limited to AIM-120B, while the Su-30SM gets the superior R-77-1 with much greater range and tracking capability.
• This breaks BVR balance because F-15E and F/A-18C players cannot effectively engage Su-30SMs before being forced into defensive maneuvers.
• In real life, the F/A-18C and F-15E were equipped with AIM-120C, which has a similar range (~105km) and better guidance, yet War Thunder has not given them this option.
• This isn’t historically accurate and creates an unfair meta at top tier, where Russian aircraft dominate due to superior missile technology.
What Needs to Change:
1. Give the F/A-18C and F-15E access to AIM-120C to restore fairness in BVR engagements.
2. Limit the Su-30SM’s access to R-77-1 if AIM-120C is not added to keep missile balance in check.
3. Increase the BR of the Su-30SM if it is meant to have better missiles than every U.S. jet.
The imbalance in missile capabilities is making top-tier frustrating, and many players feel that this is an unfair advantage for Russian aircraft. I hope Gaijin reconsiders and makes necessary adjustments to restore balance at top-tier aviation.
And to be honest even if the R77-1 was leagues better than the aim120a, I would still be fine with it for an update or two, america has been on top in air for nearly more than a year
12 hours after update and its already Russian Bias… Right the best part of the Su-30 is 14 missiles. Russia is now on par with the ranges Aim-120’s have been hitting and the seekers are the same so I’d say its actually more fair than it has been lately
No, not really. Briefly up during the F-14A, then it shifted to Russia with the addition to the R-27ER. Some nations got better F-16 variants despite being a US airframe. Then back to the US until the Rafale, EFT, and Typhoon took the spot. The US has not sat uncontested for a year. Gaijin refused to give any US plane the Aim-7P when the 27ER was added. All you had was the 7M which was terrible and would veer off three seconds off the rail.
Sure, the r27er was the best missile until the ARHs were added, but the difference between the US and russia were a lot closer than they have been since ARHs have been added, also the F15E is much better than the eurofighters and rafale at BVR, as its TWS actually works and it gets access to more ARHs than either
EFT, and Typhoon
?
All you had was the 7M which was terrible and would veer off three seconds off the rail.
Never had this experience, personally I love the AIM7M
We sort of knew immediately the F/A-18 was going to arrive DOA. Nobody worth their salt thought otherwise. Its well over a year late and anytime you mentioned giving it an equally maneuverable missile (such as an early gen 9X) like the R-73 and Python, to keep ot viable, everyone else threw a fit and screamed the US didn’t need it. So now the EFT and CO can beat the F-15 to the optimal altitude to SPAMRAM everyone else, the F-14s got moved up in BR to where their singluar advantage (Aim-54 and Fakour) is now useless. The A-10s (and to a similiar extent, the Su-25s) became pointless after being denied the airspawn they were listed to be getting.
US top tier is sort of become a joke. Sad stuff unfortunately.
Oh wow, massive change in tone from you, massive copium
Why are you trying to dogfight planes that are good at dogfighting in a plane that excels in BVR, the F15E has better high altitude performance than any other plane in the game, and the f18 has more of the best missile than any other plane in the game, youre only gonna be carrying two IR missiles so making them aim9x would barely change anything
No. The F-15E is already very good, it doesn’t need to be OP.
Aim-120Bs are better at BVR than the R-77-1s.
The Su-30 is a fatter, less powerful Su-27SM, so it will never have the performance to do BVR as good as the F-15E or EFT. R-77-1s also bleed much, much more speed during manoeuvres.
It has a slightly higher theoretical range against an AFK target, but it will never have a higher practical range.
You have to be able to get to that high altitude in order for the missiles to be viable. And everyone is aware the EFT and company can beat the F-15E to said altitude. Sure, the F/A-18 has a great missile but again, you have to be able to get to the altitude where that missile is meant for and you simply cant.
Just because you no longer have the best missiles in the entire game, doesn’t mean you need something OP to compensate. Also the Python isn’t even close to the R-73 capability wise.
I’m fairly sure they’re about equal in that aspect.
