Why does shooting a plane's wing tip off not count as a severe hit?

most of the time a plane just crashes with its wing tip off, but without it being a severe it’s easy to get kill stolen

because sone planes can fly without a wing F15, yes this happened irl and the pilot didn’t know until he landed because of the smoke (for refernce it was a training accident)

didnt the f-15 fly with the whole wing missing? shouldnt a missing not count as a severe too then?

Better ask why does removing the elevator doesn’t count as severe damage (basically not survivable most of the time) while making horizontal stabiliser black (next to 0 impact on flight performance) does despite this issue being reported over a year ago.

Answer: because nobody at Gaijin plays their own game and they don’t even understand what the problem is.

A lot of things should count as severe damage imo, I’ve noticed this more recently against aircraft thanks to the addition of the severe damage mechanics in NF & the aerial kills robbed by AI’s.

Example:

The P-47 was struck by two 9M33 OSA missiles (from Soviet Project 1124 corvette), first missile hits ripping off a wing & vertical stabilisers & second missile causes the engine to explode, now that P-47 is spiralling out of control & about to hit the seas below & along comes an AI corvette (British Peacock class corvette) that fires a singular HE shell with the accuracy of AI’s just before impact & takes the kill as it somehow is awarded the severe on one lucky hit.

I personally think, if you cause an enitre wing or both to be ripped off, it should count as Severe damage as outside fluke emergency landings IRL the aircraft isn’t combat effect (I can think of several instances outside the more famous F-15).

Outside of wings, if an aircraft suffers an engine/engine fires it should be a severe automatically as the aircraft left without the same power it had before, same for the the tail section with any of the critical components being sheered off should be considered severe as well.

This would be a boon in all modes & would lead to less kills being robbed.

It did, it is severe damage though if the pilot had know his wing was gone he would have ejected
