I was playing air RB playing the J5N1 got into a head on with p51 and I only took minimal damage but one of the outer fuel tanks on the wing caught fire i lost that segment of wing but the fire burned all my fuel even though that one fuel tank should be only about 25% of my fuel that im carrying. Is there a feature about aircraft i dont know about or is this just another mechanic that is not implemented?
Fuel has to get from every tank into the engine or engines, so their are fuel lines between tanks from which fuel would be leaking.
Realistically the leak should slow after the first tank empties as the diameter of said fuel line would theoretically limit the rate of loss, but I doubt that’s simulated.
Theoretically it could be possible to shut-off fuel crossflow between some tanks, at least left and right, and limit fuel loss that way, but I’m not sure if there are controls provided for that. Plus if you did that the significant weight differential might make your plane unflyable anyway
