Why does it say not connected to chat when I try to message my friends?

The in game chat has bee extremely unreliable for years. I try to never use it, just use Discord. At least 50% of the messages I send never show up on my friend’s chats. I’ve shared screenshots back and forth with them, they are always stunned how many chats just get lost. A lot of the time people think I am ignoring them but I wrote out an entire paragraph just for it to disappear.

Just use Discord. The in game chat cannot be trusted, ever. (The messages here on the forums always work too for what it’s worth, but it’s not instant like Discord.)

I just have a whatsapp group for me and my two friends that also play, also useful to be able to ask if anyone can hop on

Yeah, anything other than the in game chat. I would love it if they fixed the in game chat, but it’s been extremely unreliable for me over the 10+ years I have been playing the game. I have very little hope that it will ever improve.

I also play on a shitty laptop with usable internet connection so I use my phone to talk with my friends
