Hey, this is my first post here. Before I jump into my rant, I’ll give some disclaimers: Yes, I am a German main, I might have some skill issues, sometimes tunnel vision, and all kinds of things like “git gud” or whatever.
With that said, here we go.
I find it very frustrating to play against these modern vehicles at such low BRs. For example, modern self-propelled howitzers (SPH) like the M109 or the famous Japanese howitzer or VIDAR! can easily one-shot the Maus from any distance. I know it takes skill to perform well in these vehicles, in fact, it takes a lot of skill to do well in any vehicle, whether in Ground Realistic, Arcade, or Simulator. But you end up facing these vehicles more often than not.
There are some exceptions, however. For example, the ARL 44 at a low BR is fine, though.
This problem with post-WWII vehicles isn’t limited to ground battles; it has spread to air and naval battles as well. So my question is: Is there any reason for these vehicles to remain at their current BR? Because it’s becoming increasingly difficult to play nowadays.
Cause they use technology created before or during WW2 and are rather bad vehicles.
M109 is literally 1920/1930s technology just in a more modern chassis.
VIDAR cannot easily one-shot a Maus.
If you as a Maus are getting one-shot by 15Xmm HE then that’s impressive.
I’ve yet to die to HE as a Maus, and I’ve yet to see anyone in-match frag a Maus with HE.
I’d implore you actually use one of these howitzers.
KV-2, the 1.0 German one, M109, and see for yourself how difficult the tactics are with them.
You add something that uses 1930s technology and it sits at 6.3 BR due to its effectiveness.
Yeah, it’s fine.
Age of the vehicle =/= age of the technology.
I think the real problem here is the overpressure mechanic which I can say is broken in the game that makes SPH can easily one shot kill any heavy tanks.
War thunder is long past the time of being a historically accurate game it has sacrificed the historical accuracy for balance which is a good move in my opinion
