I am very curious why America has the Merkava Mk.3D (USA). America never operated them.

There are 3 Merkava’s in the US tree, they were added as event vehicles before Israel was an independant nation.

Before Israel was added as a tech tree the Merkava Mk.1, Merkava Mk.2B, and Merkava Mk.3D were added as event vehciles. However once Israel was added, no other Israeli vehicles were added to the USA tree since.
In fact, the opposite happened, the USA “Magach 3 (ERA)” premium vehicle was delisted and is no longer purchasable, while the same thing happened the to USA helicopter premium the “AH-64A Peten” replaced with the now current “AH-64A (GR)”. Coincidentally both those vehicles were then added as premiums for the Israeli tree. A very similar thing happened with the Sho’t Kal Dalet which used to be a British premium, but then turned into an Israeli premium.

If nations such as India, South Africa, Iran, or other nations with vehicles currently residing in present TTs, the exact same thing will happen as what has happened now.
Gaijin doesn’t seem to have a plan on what Trees are coming next, or where certain vehicles should go.
Well, the Merkavas are in the Israeli branch because Gaijin has a game plan that is rubbish, and it seems that all they do is improvise. That’s why there are Merkavas and the premium Magach in the USA, and the Shot Kal Dalet in the UK.
It’s already sad for those who bought those premiums in those other two nations and then had to buy them for the nation of Israel (like me), but it’s much sadder the fact that the American Merkavas are exclusive, and are not in the Israeli tech tree, when the logical thing would be to leave those event tanks in the USA tech tree, and put them in the Israeli tech tree as normal unlockable tanks.
This is so inaccurate. Please do not spread misinfo. Merkava was planned and developed solely by Israel. The merkava 3D made it to the American tree because Israel was not yet in the game, and the devs wanted to add it, so why not to the biggest supporter and arms provider of the Israelis. Makes most sense since the British and the french embargoed arms selling to Israel (Thats why the merkava was created)

It’s a very old premium (along with, I believe, a Merkava 2 in the tree as well as an event vehicle) before the Israel TT existed so it had to go somewhere. Seems the US had a part in manufacturing it so I guess that’s why it ended up in the US TT.
granted my statement that they did 50% of the development was exaggerated but they did give over 2? billion dollars to fund the development of the merk and lavi

Was this funding a result of the Merkava project, or just 2 billion of support funds that Israel wouldve gotten anyways?

It was FOR the Merkava and lavi projects

The Lavi project was cancelled because the Americans didn’t want competition with the f16
The same would happen to the merkava but the Israelis where already full throttle with the project
