I like tank combat. I enjoy GRB in many more BR ranges and situations than ARB. I also enjoy that it is player controlled vehicles and air that I’m up against (yes, I enjoy air in GRB - specifically shooting said air down). If I’m playing ARB, it’s usually only during events or when I feel like AIM-9Ding people in the Ayit.
Combined arms aspect
No furballs
No missile markers
No team spotting
More 1v1 dogfights without 3rd party idiots ruining it which also means
Almost no kill stealing
And my fav aircraft is more useful in grb (su25t)
Also its fun to bring f4j and sealclub premium cas noobs sometimes
No furballs?
Cases when planes pile up in 1 area and start carnival of kill stealing, blue on blue, third partying and other annoying stuff. You cant have any good duel there.
Hmm I personally love military in general but jets and their armaments are overwhelming. Getting into it seriously would need a lot of time I’m lacking.
WT seems to be even more complex than real current military articles/news I follow because all of that experimental and “can be mounted to this platform so we add it” weaponry, like it’s much more diverse that reality with all of these experimental/niche munition.
Fun factor of the game keeps me away from it too, it’s basically reverse seal clubbing experience but in ground rules are easy to get, air needs studying. As a fan of history I right away knew what to expect from Stug III for example, and I learned capabilities of the more niche to me vehicles, while in air I truly can’t tell what’s the pros and cons of my enemies, they are too many. All of this I’m saying from a perspective of a person who isn’t jets nerd and tried to learn and like ARB, I found no joy in it, no excitement researching new vehicles so therefore I gave up future learning.
There is lot of learning when it comes to jets, true, but once it snaps together its easy.
Arguably, when it comes to BRs with radar missiles, once you learn how to read radar and RWR and process the info these give you, ARB becomes more vibe based and relaxing than ground.
ARB is basically WoT.
ARB is easily just not a good game mode, the matches are repetitive and moronic, and playing any vehicle that is not a fighter/fighter bomber is usually a death sentence unless your John A. Tailgunner. On top of that, it’s frustrating when your playing as a bomber and realize, oh wait… I have ZERO purpose, if I wasn’t here the match would be the same as destroying bases on most maps, doesn’t even give you the OPTION of bombing the airfield. Even if it does, its frustrating and essentially a suicide mission as a fighter will always be able to outpace you to altitude.
GRB is a lot more enjoyable just because if you get your skull caved in, you still can respawn and keep going instead of being thrown back into cue, taking off, climbing, etc, etc.
On top of all that, there’s so much variety in what I can play in GRB, whether it’s CAS, rat tanks, big beefy tanks, all rounder mediums, artillery, scout vehicles? I can play six different play styles every match, its awesome!
When I first played ASB, god it was like a breath of fresh air. The matches are long, the victories feel well earned, the rewards… oh the rewards… better still every fight pushes you to take control of your aircraft, to work with your teammates and the best part? Even if you play a non-fighter/fighter bomber aircraft you still can contribute massively to the team.
Now if only gaijin cared even slightly about sim battles.
I used to love GRB and hate ARB but ever since russian CAS ruined toptier and they got special treatment with their pantsir I play ARB almost exclusively
Thinking about it; I dislike GRB less would be more accurate. ARB has been streamlined too much to the point all the maps are the same, and as basic as capturing circles on the ground is, it’s more variety than ARB offers. Generally more vehicles are viable in GRB too.
Playing ARB is like trying driving a truck in real life. The mechanics make any mistake ending your plane/jet into trees or mountains compare to GRB you drive ending into house is only damage track not destroyed verhicle.
I don’t like GRB more than ARB , not even close. The only reason i played GRB in the past was to do proper CAS/CAP (usually i was multi) and against player controlled SPAA in WW2 tiers .
But after i saw the points some players brought about CAS in Ground RB and how much bad it makes the mode i stopped doing and playing the mode. Because they are right. I mean i had fun tossing bombs in heads etc. but it was pretty pathetic that they couldn’t do crap about it , except if some player had a SPAA and actually knew how to play it.
In general from all the modes in the game , i find GRB the most problematic one.
I understand many people like it because of the reason they play …everything except ships in one mode, which it is the good thing of the mode .
Personally i find that it could be the best mode , if the maps were not that utterly garbage one by one.
No spawn protections by both air and ground makes you not want to play unless you are winning and that makes 1DL VERY valid option.
If i come fly over your head in your spawn tossing every crap i have , or make it better me and 2-3 others (say a squad) i’m sure you’ll counter and you’ll have fun (i’ll make sure you invent new curses and words to throw) …
And ofc if i don’t do that (because i don’t count me out at doing BS in there) , there will be one craphead from the other team that his entire reason of existance will be to go camp a spawn point with a crapbox (or with another 3 of them) .
But that’s the design of the game mode, not my fault and not their fault.
So instead of trying to be more of a crapper than the opponent , i decided not to play that mode. I can’t support BS really, i have allergy in BS.
Add the importance of any second crapper did low quality graphics and all the crap with that…
So instead i play Arcade Ground. WAYYY more well thought as gameplay. At least it let’s you counter air whithout losing your vehicle (J out spawn plane or SPAA in RB ) , plane’s have timer anyway, you can’t perma-air it like i used to do in GRB … well still has the BS of bad maps and spawn camps but it’s the biggest flaw of it. It’s one flaw not 10. In general , the spawn camp thing is making any ground mode complete garbage if you ask me and because markers etc. and different scouting makes it more difficult in Arcade (still happens more than not, but it needs synergy from both teams …now if your team is cooperating with the oppoenent and ALLOWS him to do it it’s another story, but in general you can counter it easier than GRB).
Also , markers pretty much counter much of ulq thing etc. Not 100% but playable.
Air RB though… It’s like you play 1/5 of the game. You have only planes. And of them planes 1/3 or something are actually useful in their BR. I mean, i you can play everything… but on occasions (uptiers ) they may be crap …or even unplayable. And also count bombers out.
But when you want to play dogfights etc. it is fun.
Why i say not even close in why i like ARB more than GRB is because GRB IS DESIGNED to be annoying from the get go and the map design helps a lot on it (which is a GJ choice) . On the other hand ARB …while it might get boring doesn’t have map design affecting you (which GJ is BAD at map design).
Not good for strike planes though (even though if you get used to them you may have good games) and worthless for bombers .
If anything, both modes are crap , below average quality… and that was shown when NT and the Ground events came. Very few people would pick the RBs over NT and Advance modes .
Even if unfinished , buggy and some problems people would still prefer them to normal RBs .
