Why don’t you mention that Firefly can penetrate any Soviet tank between 5.3-5.7, and Churchill can also penetrate the T3485ZIS53 turret, because the lowest position is only 80mm
Im assume this is for the d-5t. Which you have a good k/d in.
The t34 85 is a pretty solid vehicle. Decent speed and a gun that nukes whatever you pen. The only downside is somewhat low pen but the angle performance helps sneak rounds into sides.
M26 is a medium, Tiger 2 is a heavy tank
Across all BRs, the same logic can be seen: medium tanks are weaker than heavy tanks when they are the same BR
Firefly sacrifices the sherman stabilizer, gun depression, and APHE rounds in the name of penetration
Churchill 7 is also a heavy tank, which are usually armed with stronger guns compared to their peers
OP’s arguments are nothingburgers because dude can’t even form a cohesive argument that compares apples to apples. Everything has been apples to oranges with no cohesion.
Light tanks are light tanks.
Medium tanks are medium tanks.
Heavy tanks are heavy tanks.
SPAA are SPAA.
Tank destroyers are tank destroyers.
There is only a logic that ‘under the same BR, Germany’s heavy tanks are better than other countries’ medium tanks’, and there is no logic that heavy tanks are better than medium tanks
KV1s and T34 have similar Combat effectiveness, but KV1s is at 4.3
T3485 and IS1 are even more funny, IS1 doesn’t even have the same maneuverability as T3485, and they are both at 5.7
If heavy tanks are really stronger than medium tanks, why is IS2 so weak in the game? Is this discrimination against USSR tanks?
T-34-85 has useful armor and is better than the M18… Good joke.
IS-2 literally has a stronger gun than the short 88 while having superior armor than the tiger 1 when you drive the IS-2 in reverse
The only weakness of the IS-2 is the reload speed, which can still be negated with proper positioning
Kv1 has much better armor
I wouldn’t say objectively, moreso kv-1 only has more consistent armor
Even experienced players don’t feel confident shooting the UFP of t-34s, so they aim for turret ring, mantlet, and cupola instead
For the KV-1, though, the weakspots are the flat UFP, LFP, Turret face, and mantlet
IS-2 gun is a literal overkill, the shell size can get stuck on more armor, causing it to shoot overlapping plates and the reload is literally 3x longer than a Tiger or Panther. The Tiger 1 and Panther gun can penetrate literally anything it faces (not at such angles as the 122mm, but you shouldn’t shoot WW2 shells at a higher angle than 40-50 for the most part in the first place) at the same BR without having to suffer from being useless and invulnerable for almost half a minute. The armor, while fine in reverse, is still engine block armor and makes you go slower than a Churchill VII at max speed. There’s a reason that at the moment, the IS-2 is an overBR’d crap you only play if you want your neurons to activate from using the 122mm cannon.
Kv1 can angle and negate most of that.
Any gun better than the US 75mm can pen the lower part of the ufp pretty consistantly
But is2 is at 6.7, and his opponent is Tiger King H. However, his firepower and protection are seriously lagging behind Tiger King
The body of the KV1s is not as good as the T34E, especially the crotch can be pierced by any armor piercing bullet
How is armor that stops medium caliber automatic cannon fire, not useful?
The T-34-85 is practically immune to any aircraft strafing and also doesn’t die when a rocket lands 2m next to it.
And of course the same applies to SPAA firing at it.
It’s also not getting killed by US 75mm or German 50mm off a Puma simply by looking at it, which eliminates the thread of other mobile vehicles the M18 faces.
IS-2 gun is only overkill compared to other 5.7’s. When you compare the IS-2 and Tiger 1 in an uptier though, the IS-2 will struggle with a lot less enemies.
Short 88 only has 20mm more pen over it’s peers, 10mm if you’re using the shell with 280 grams of filler. I don’t see how people still think it’s OP when there’s the US 90mm on the M36 with significantly better statistics.
As for the panthers, they are extremely unwieldy in close quarters because of:
Reverse speed
Reload Time
Front Sprocket Weakspots
Turret face Weakspots
Large muzzle brake
Horrible hull traverse rates
An angled T-34 will have significantly better chances at bouncing shots than an angled KV-1, especially if the T-34 keeps moving
Angle. The kv1 has better all around better armor which allows you to better angle.
I am with you there, the KV-1 relies on fear factor to make the armor effective.
Most experienced players know that the flat LFP and UFP of the KV-1 hull are just barely thin enough to be penned by US 75
And if the KV-1 angles, just go for the mantlet cheeks
