Today I encountered a problem, a tank released smoke and I can see its silhouette, but all the missiles that I launch at it from a helicopter fly straight into the green, out of 4 missiles, not one reached the target. Am I right in understanding that the smoke somehow knocks down the laser?
The laser can’t penetrate smoke, so thats why.

Smoke screens distort the laser, if you really wanna get funky with it you can set a keybind to disable the laser so you can just stop its seeker before it gets distorted (im pretty sure that works)

If I turn off the laser, the missile will definitely fly off target. I just don’t understand, I was constantly killed by Ka-52s in my mind.
It’s clear that it can’t penetrate, but why does the missile just fall then? After all, I’m directing it to a specific place, even though it’s not visible because of the smoke.
Ka-50s use beam riding missiles.
Hellfires are semi active laser homing.
Basically one missile sees a line of a laser.while the other sees a point.
Thats why smoke works against one but not the other.

I wonder why they couldn’t add this for Hellfire as well. There’s a clear imbalance here.
Its just how they work in real life.
Hellfire has a seeker at the front.
Vikhr has a seeker at the back.
Except gaijin selectively decides what to add in a way that makes things like this very one sided. The USA has better hellfires they just won’t add them.

It’s a pity that the Gaijins didn’t add the ability for Hellfire to fly by inertia to the last point.

The hellfire will only guide onto the laser , if it cant see the laser it will try its best to get there by INS (or whatever its called) , which isn’t the best
If you turn off the laser, the missile flies approximately nowhere. I tried to launch the missile by coordinates, it flies anywhere but to the target.
Like what? longbow with the game changing 8km range?
