Why do a ton of lvl100's play Saab 105/SO4050?

105 is just a nice plane to fly. It looks cool and the cannons feel great. Good plane to kick back and relax in

First off, being level 100 alone doesn’t make a player overly strong compared to others. In fact, War Thunder has quite a high veteran player population proportion, so being level 100 alone does not necessarily make someone experienced relative to most others in the same match.

Anyways, I can’t speak for Saab 105, but I’ve played S.O. 4050 IIN and IIB. You’re probably talking about the IIN here. What I liked most about it was the energy retention. You have great top speed and energy retention for the BR, and overall this makes for a very relaxing gameplay experience. Never mind that your missiles are the worst AAMs in the game, or that you have less maneuverability than a fully loaded container ship. Or that even planes in a slight uptier can catch up to you, effectively countering your only advantage. Or that the only plane at the BR which cannot evade the R511s or AA-20s is the Tu-4. Which is only possible through a full downtier, and even then are they rare.

No, my reason for playing it is exactly to see my terrible missiles hit enemies nonetheless. You wouldn’t understand this having not played it yourself. It is a special and legendary moment each time it happens.

cuz its a good fighter and attacker

  1. You can literally buy your way to lvl100 with vehicle unlocks. Best thing about hitting lvl100 is a million SL reward.
  2. Sometimes you want low/lower/lowest tier fun
  3. Just because you got a vehicle and hit top tier does not mean you have to stop playing it, you can always go back to it.

lastly - lvl100 does not mean anything related to skill - game knowledge, maybe. I have been lvl100 for years now, have 5 nations in 14.0 air and 4 nations in 12.0 ground.

My Stats for ARB and ASB - (Yes, I am a filthy casual)

I’d say to grind Sweden and France if they already don’t have it as the Saab-105OE and S.O.4050 Vautour IIN are the premium versions of the planes you mentioned and premium vehicles make it a lot easier to grind. I personally used the IL-8 (1944) to grind all air branches of USSR tech tree to rank 5 and similarly used B7A2 (Homare 23) and P-51C-11-NT to grind Japan and China to rank 5 as well.
If they already have those nations grinded, they might have a battlepass task to do like kill enemy aircrafts in a striker or bomber and S.O.4050 Vautour IIN makes it great for these tasks because it gets an airspawn and has air to air missiles and can kill many planes in a head-on.
Or they just like the planes and want to have some fun in them.

Because its fun and more relaxed. I love play the TBF and B6N

Have you tried not dying to them?

8.3 with 2 AIM-9B’s, two gunpods, and can carry some bombs; generally not a bad plane, but very slow, also gets air spawn IIRC.

You can get to lvl 100 in a few months, most veterans would be in the level 1000-10000 range at this point.

idk is there many 4050 now? i thought it was not so popular because it has a very limited play style

I really miss when Vautour IIA had airspawn :(

Ironic
