So I just got the Eurofighter Typhoon, and when I got into my first match, I realised that the HMD shows all targets detected by the TWS instead of having to cycle through one at a time.
That begs the question, Why can’t we have the same thing for 3rd person for the generic radar UI which would provide more situational awareness.
Sorry for the bad quality I have a potato PC

I suppose it’s because you only see the enemy through radar when you lock them, so since TWS doesn’t lock the enemy, you don’t get square around the enemy. I’m not familiar with how TWS works tbh, so I might have a flawed understanding of it, but from what I understand, TWS is just a separate beam of radar continuing to search while you have/can have a specific enemy locked. If gaijin made it so everyone you radar passively picked up while is search mode got a lock square, other planes without the BVR capability would also get lock squares even though they don’t have such capability (think low-tier radar capable planes)
TLDR: it would give gaijin a headache and cause balancing issues
Pretty sure this was a feature back when TWS first came out
Actually from what I experience in game, TWS treats every target the same, the green dashed square on the screen indicating a soft-lock doesn’t actually increase scan rate of said target, it simply centers the radar’s FOV on the target instead, which is why you often see non-ESA radars extrapolating the target’s flight path before snapping back on the target upon revisit, However ESA have significantly higher refresh rate which makes this effectively a non-issue.
In regards to balancing, I don’t think it’s actually an unfair advantage because technically all TWS capable radars are capable of this. But it will certainly be somewhat unfair against ESA radars because they have faster revisit speed.
Still is with TWS SPAA radars

Id just love to have the ability to see HMD in third person, including the radar and DL overlay

This is also an issue with RWRs, many of them will show the angle of the radar and signal strength in cockpit view, but not on the 3rd person UI.
It would be nice to get the UI to reflect the capabilities of the plane rather than just using the simple generic one for all aircraft.

Whilst yeah, they should also have an “advanced” generic RWR variant, I also just wish that there was an option to use cockpit radar/RWR screens in third person, maybe tweaked to fit the UI correctly, but enough of the “core” style to look like the cockpit version

Its a thing with some very specific planes as well that i cant name off the top of my head atm

Old school F-14 was that way, TWS would show EVERYTHING on the map that it touched.
Similar to what you see with the Pantsir now.

Yeah, on the F-14A when it was first being tested. It looked crazy:

Low-key want this back as a option or atleast have the option to have it enabled for targets that you have launched a missile towards
