Probably a holdover from when it was way under br. You know how often gaijin looks at older vehicles (as in not at all).
To me you have been pointing to what you believe is a game inconsistency.
If you think the Wiesel, AMX-10P and R3 should have consistent scouting applied between them then that seems perfectly reasonable to raise as an issue on the page
Edit: game inconsistency is certainly something you see as issues raised on that page and this is in line with that
I mean if we follow old logic, its because they have died recently to a 2S38. Which means there need to be forum posts about it. I thought they stopped given the frequency of it dropped of massively last year, but old habits die hard.

Simple, it would be hell of a op in terms of contributing to team / own points.
There are few aa’s that got scouting ability, and they usually lack in selfdefence(strela) , are most times a weak on designated job (wiesel).
Lav-AD you got mobile platform, AT missiles, AA missiles and nice minigun to shred unaware light targets apart. Now, if you would get spotting ability, it would get enough score to jet spawn, in lower cost and top armament seriously easily for 2 runs. (backups)
Now, if you want to compare it to 2s38, yes you get VT shells for helos, but most jet’s are nogo if they dont fly low and straight. Not to mention, no missiles either AA or Ground. 57mm apdfs what has horrible post pen damage. And is a size of a mbt. Not to mention, is not even nearly quick or manouverable as lav-ad.
So now you got a reason why it’s light tank in game (2S38) and why your beloved LAV-AD doesnt have a scouting ability.
This is the most inane statement in this thread.
Both the 2S38 and LAV-AD are at the same BR, they are at the same BR, they are the same class of vehicle, they have the same performance in battle.
Why would you not compare the two vehicles?
I’m comparing the vehicles because I died to the 2S38? Yes I fight the 2S38 at the BR range because it’s the vehicle found in the BR range. The same exact thing occurs when I play China at 10.0 / 10.7, I see the LAV-AD.
What about it?

US SAMs aren’t effective at long ranges either.
You’ve told me that the LAV-AD doesn’t have scouting because it can engage ground and air targets. The same logic isn’t applied to the 2S38.
The same logic isn’t applied to SPAAs in general.

Same BR, and not same class of vehicle and they dont have same performance. You have told allready you dont own 2S38 , and still you try to argue and compare those 2…
I fight against LAV-AD’s in khrizantema and still it’s not same class of vehicle, even that I can missile down helos with it, and it doesnt have scouting ability. Only 2 missiles. Why it doesnt have it, it would got radar to spot targets… See this is ultimately same mindless BS what you try to say when comparing 2S38 and LAV-AD
Both the 2S38 and the LAV-AD are SPAAs. They were designed to engage low flying air targets while being able to engage light ground targets.
Class also is irrelevant to the ability to scout. SPAAs are given the ability to scout. Tank destroyers are given the ability to scout.
It’s an arbitrary decision applied haphazardly. Why does the LAV-AD not have scouting?

Check again, other is AA , and other is Light vehicle. And also that is pointed out on original post, why it is like it is in war thunder.

They asked about why you kept mentioning that vehicle. I provided a explanation that is in line with previous behavior. I did not intend to waver the comments about the 2S38 and the comments were done with no malicious intent.
Anyways i do recommend creating an issue about the 3 vehicles i mentioned. They should probably be treated the same in terms of receiving or not receiving scouting.
The reason for mentioning the vehicle has been provided numerous times. It’s designed to be an SPAA. Gaijin’s classification I’ve already stated I disagree with. The focus of this thread is the LAV-AD. The ability to engage low flying air targets and ground targets isn’t justification for the LAV-AD not having scouting as the 2S38 has the same abilities but is given scouting while being the same BR.
The next excuse provided is that the 2S38 is a light tank thus is must have scouting while the LAV-AD is an SPAA thus is must not have scouting. We see that this isn’t a true measure either as there are multiple SPAAs and even some tank destroyers given scouting.
Then it’s down to whether an SPAA can “effectively” engage ground targets, but the R3 T20 FA-HS which has similar performance to the Wiesel / AMX-10P isn’t given scouting.
What is the qualifying measure for giving an SPAA scouting in Gaijin’s eyes? Is there one?
i just dont think that LAV can get scout, the M247 rocket make it performance well than other SAM spaa if it meet the tank, the missiles let it can do better than VT shells owner when enemy jets coming, if you think that 2S38 should be the SPAA in WT, you should also let all the CV9040s be SPAA too, cause 2S38 is more similar to CV9040s but not the LAV-AD

Not all IFVs are SPAAs.
Having IRST tracking =/= Effective role as SPAA
I also don’t believe the STRVs have IRST tracking outright, it’s only a few variants.
