Yup, this goes both ways. You might have a T-64 fighting M60s but you’re just going to end up being bombed 24/7 by planes you can’t touch.

Yup. I don’t think these people realize how one-sided for NATO a historical matchup would be for most of the Cold War, other than the T-64 they always cherry-pick in a vacuum against the M60.

The only period that is somewhat balanced for USSR was the 80s. AA is decent from both sides, planes matchup is balanced, and stuff like the T-80U with 3BM42 fighting the M1A1HA/Leopard 2A4C/Challenger 1 is honestly quite a balanced matchup. Russian tanks would struggle massively in low visibility maps due to no thermal but hey, it is what it is.

Also, their smoke wouldn’t work against thermal. That’s something that only appeared with the T-90A and Shtora and was later retrofitted to other models.

The average ru main probably just thinks soviet tanks like the T-80B or U had this irl back then and the support plethora of teched up BMP’s, BMDs etc with hq thermals, VT ammunition, IR tracking and whatnot would still exist in such a historic setup.

War Thunder is a war games simulator no matter what your personal beliefs are.
All those tanks you listed are real vehicles.

I don’t really care if it’s common or not on Panthers, it’s happened and it affected my game negatively.

The average Soviet team would already crumble due to the loss of the Ka-50 in the Cold War matchup. Imagine them maintaining even 50% winrate without the ability to spawn 5-6 Ka-50/Ka-52. lol.

There was a time when Soviet teams were super-skilled because their matchup was honestly hard. Back when they only had T-64A/T-64B/T-80B. But their overall skill level only went down and down since then with each free handhold Gaijin gave to them.

It has reached such a level that current Soviet teams would get murdered if they simply lost their black hole damage model because they now blindly go forward knowing that their tanks can tank an absurd amount of punishment.

Ok. That same thing can and will happen to you when shooting literally every single vehicle in the game.

Thats just a screenshot from like 3mins ago. Nothing special. I just pressed the screenshot hotkey at a random point. Could be any game at 11.7. Its just from the the start an endless red killtext. Allied teams have no chance. Rus just press forward along the streets and alleyways in numbers and soak up any damage Nato teams might apply. The return fire kills all with just one shot. Too hard to kill, while all others drop like flies. Like 1 Nato loss per 5 seconds until the hot game phase ends and from then everything is just mop up.

Which basically means it’s a huge problem because it’s affecting so many vehicles, but as I said above, I don’t see many people crying about it.
On the other hand, echo chamber threads about muh bias are constantly up and running for years now, while totally ignoring bigger problem.
Care to explain why people are so worked up about something that affects, what, half a dozen tanks in the game, while being totally cool about an issue affecting crapload of vehicles ?

City maps are very hard to win against a RU team pushing together. It’s a tossup if you will survive or die everytime a BVM swings around a corner like a madman because of their annoying broken damage model. Side shoot them in the carousel, unlucky you, you broke the left track, phased through the entire autoloader, came out the other side, and broke the right track. Now enjoy getting oneshotted by the first poor shot the BVM is sending your way.

This is a big reason of why I hate these nonstop city maps. Though I will say that people are sleeping on Israel right now. I’m enjoying the Merkava 4s a lot more than I do the Abrams. Survivability is excellent, upper turret armor is super trolly(Even the mantlet o_O). Gen 2 thermal on every merk 4, APS for the M. Oh yeah, it also has 200mm of composite armor on the roof so RU tanks cannot BS kill you with the HE sniping your optics/MGs. Great tanks overall.

I did notice the RU teams tend to lose more regularly in very open maps where their imbecile rush tactics can be much more easily punished by a decent teams.

Even on open maps they have their Ka-50, which are super lethal on these. They also have more speed to reach important positions and better thermals to aim and spot over range. And still better armor.

But yea…at least games on open maps tend to last longer than these 3 minutes steamrolls on city maps.

Helicopters are the weakest form of CAS at top tier, especially on open maps. As long as players don’t play their SPAAs too late, Ka-50/52 horde can be countered.
