Why can we not research planes in our tanks

So i finished the british ground tech tree and heli tech tree and i was told by a cc if you complete these you can research the planes and ships as i can never get a game vs players in ships and i cant fly planes with control pad for sh@£. But theres no option so where does the xp i earn in ground go once i cant research amything?. I was hoping i could research the planes and ships by playing ground.

Apparently you can research the tanks by playing planes but not the other way round why is this a thing bit unfair im a grinder not very good at game but i try and i like completing tech trees for some strange reason done all tech trees on wot,s console even had a shiny coin for doing it lol

You can use tanks to research Helicopters, that’s it. If you get kills with planes in ground you get plane RP, Heli kills get heli RP etc. Although I have often wondered if people think CAS kills give tank RP and that’s why there is so much CAS spam at lower ranks.

Be nice if we could grind air out with ground when we complete the tech tree and visa versa

Nah it’s not needed. Helis need to be grindable by both branches though. Since we all know playing helis to research helis is just a non starter.

Gaijin would never do it, but its a good idea. Damn, I’d even take an RP penalty of 75% on the ground RP if it went into planes.
