I just unlocked the T-72, and so far I’ve died many times because the fuel tanks explode. Diesel is very hard to detonate, yet for some reason they seem to explode like another ammo rack…
But this issue is common to every single diesel tank in the USSR tech tree… its infuriating and simply unfair that other nations tanks seem to either constantly absorb spall or just set them on fire…
Why can’t they act as spall liners like every other nation? I’ve shot their fuel tanks many, many times and have done no damage… just set them on fire… (ahem AMX-32 fuel tank ate a 750mm pen tandem atgm ahem)
Karma for all the Shells eaten by KV-1 and T-34 fuel tanks.

Its confirmation bias, fuel tanks act like spall liners for every single tank in the game.

I never said they didn’t, I was making a point on how USSR (and Chinese) vehicle fuel tanks are too likely to explode
Likely intentional, have died so many times because of this feature compared to other MBTs (e.g. AMX-30 (1972)/Super, Type 74 (C/E/F), Type 90/90 B/ 90 B ‘Fuji’, Type 10 and so on.) are more likely to dismiss damage rather that exploding and knocking my vehicle, it happens, not bias, but there’s this discrepancy.
Some times where it should act as additional armor, mainly the BMP-3 platform (e.g. BMP-3 and 2S38) depending on the angle, type of ammunition and caliber. On some MBTs (e.g. T-72 (and variations), T-80 (and variations) have this issue too. It’s not something new, been happening for almost more than an year.
Hopefully it’s clearified because is uncertain if it’s a bug or intentional (likely to be since there was a change to fuel tank explosion late 2024 with the introduction of additional modules). Because is very frustating you simply dying because a tiny bit of your fuel tank (regardless of the vehicle) may destroy your vehicle because it exploded.
