I made a list of the maps that appear most in my matches and those that appear least.
Maps that are played the most, 70% of the matches are on these maps:
Tunisia (Large)
Finland
Fulda
Polish Fields (Large)
European Province
Ardennes
Test Area
El Alamein
American Desert
Normandy Fields
Pradesh
Seversk 13
Red Desert
Abandoned City
Campania
Volokomansk
And these are the maps that appear very little in the matches, about 30% I would say:
Carpathians
Tunisia (Small)
Middle East
Advance on the Rhine
Normandy
Sinai Sands
Sinai
Iberian Castle
Abandoned Factory
Sweden
Mozdok
Hurtgen
Maginot
Japan
Alaska
Aral Sea
38th Parallel
Wroclaw
Flanders
Arc de Fire
Vietnam
Sun City
Arctic Polar Base
Novorossysk
Cargo Port
North Holland
Cosmodrome
Sometimes I spend days without playing on some of these maps, such as Sinai, Sinai Sands and Middle East, while I play about 10 games a day on Ardennes, Fulda and Seversk 13.
What the hell gaijin, you are destroying mine and many other players’ lives with this problem, while you ignore it and continue releasing updates with useless fighters and vehicles.
This ain’t directly Gaijin’s fault those maps just suck. Unlike the other maps, those specific maps lack a lot of interest. Campania replaced the original map. Both aren’t any better and honestly, if everything was destructible then I would say it would change the dynamic but it doesn’t.
Gaijin and players are both at play in this case and you’re being dramatic for the sake of dramatics.
I get Japan, Cargo Port, both Sinais, Abandoned Factory, and small Tunisia a lot at 9.0-9.3.
I’m glad that some maps aren’t as common, because I really would like to ban Arctic Polar Base, Sun City, North Holland, Red Desert, Advance on the Rhine, 38th Parallel, Aral Sea, and Finland all at once.
Every premium player with a hive mind banning a majority of the fun maps due to skill issue or otherwise, so you get matched with them and they ruin your match selection.
The solution? SBMM and e.g. 5 preferred maps in queues.
I’m sick of playing matches in WW2 BR where I am the one of two lvl 100s on a German team vs 6-8 squads of high level players (especially USSR right now) and sick of playing maps that were perfectly good, now cut in half with red zones. I leave them ASAP if not before the match now. I ain’t wasting my time, I want to enjoy a game, not play CS with tanks.
granted I normally play below 9.0, so ignoring stuff like pradesh and red desert (which I only ever get like once every 6 months even at top tier, if I’m lucky anyway) all I ever get is repeats of Cargo port, Rhine, Abandoned factory, Abandoned City, Sweden, Hurtgen forest and basically every other garbage city map in the game. I have Seversk 13 banned, because if I dont have it banned I literally get that map probably 3-4 times out of every 10 games I play. Its the only map I ever played on until I banned it and I hated it.
they seriously need to fix the map rotation. Its incredibly boring to play garbage like sun city twice in a row on a regular basis but even maps like Small volo you see once every hundred games at best.
That is assuming the determination of what map is played is made at the point where the matchmaker has assembled 2 teams. And that’s not how map rotation is handled. Your map ban just means that during matchmaking you are skipped when that map is active. Other peoples’ map bans do not affect you, at all.
What does affect you is the like/dislike - that actually is used to calculate weights (i.e. some maps have a higher weight and will thus appear more in map rotation).
I played quite a few games yesterday and I wasn’t particularly bothered by map rotation as a map is a map really.
There are some old maps I dont see anymore but then I dont go over 6BR that much.
The only thing I would like is a spring clean where they just remove the timer and the red zones and put physical barriers in instead.
I have actually come to understand and appreciate the reason for a long narrow map but done in its own right not just another map butchered.
I am surprised they dont rotate maps ,I mean physically ,90 degrees etc and simply randomise the cap zones if they are short of maps, that would shake it up a bit and eradicate map knowledge if that is Gaijin’s intention.
I am pretty happy with the maps and even after a few years I am still finding new ways of doing them.
In a day long gone, they did that. Rotating the caps and spawns, at least. I have a vague recollection of it, at any rate. Maybe they didn’t, and if they did, I have no idea why they removed it.
