Yeah, the KV-1s are amazing imo, especially the -E and -B variants.
Ranging MGs are also extremely important for knocking down shit like trees or light fences, which is nice for HEAT-FS. Those vehicles also tend to be much better platforms then the Ikv 103. 500m/s shell velocity really does things that make it bad.
Imma be real they wouldnt go higher- the 105 armed centurions are an example of what they would be like. I myself love the Strv 101 and its gun, its quite frankly one of my favorite in the game. With proper postpen the Ikv might go up to 5.0 or such, but no higher unless it got its APHE round.
laughs in Bkan
He can always lolpen somewhere on the tank no matter how much you angle. The turret ring and cheeks. Especially cheeks, even if you angle the turret.
May I remind you that the M10 exists? A straight up better gun then the german long 75s, on a chassis with about the same armor and a turret that is extremely trolly. Definitely poor turret traverse, but its not enough to justify that big of a BR difference.
Most of the Panzer IVs should go up ~.3 BR, (Minus the J, I would say it might be fine where it is at, though idk.)
Its moreso the japanese tanks are overtiered.
He won’t pen because the KV-1 turret is volumetric hell. The turret ring is a TINY shot.
Sue might do that but it is better than 6.0 to 8.0 is now
Do you want 86kph Souma SMs or 116kph AMX-50s?
I think not, my friend.
I said certain tanks ,not all
Maus/T28/Tort and few more
No. Absolutely not. I’ve seen the table where it says that and it’s not German, it’s made by Americans, and it’s an estimate based on nothing but pure speculation.
Even using the concrete piercing shell the soviet 122mm gun can penetrate only about 100mm/30° of armour.
Normal HE is even less effective than this at directly perforating the armour.
Damn. Didn’t realize this topic was still active. Guess the Counterargument has been doing a lot of good work. Keep it up Gentlelads.
I guess, if the HE shells operated sorta like HESH with a short radius post pen damage sphere, that gets reduced by the armour but usually does at least some damage to the crew?
For example, a 122mm HE that hits the drivers side of the TIGER II UFP makes the driver (with fully leveled up crew Vitality) orange/red, and makes the machine gunner yellow.
It’s never gonna be as effective as APHE, but would definitely become an option to slowly whittle down armoured behemoths that your AP cannot pen.
The Churchill VII is a 4.3 tank bro.
Ok and?
I don’t like solving the issue of a weak gun by giving them experimental projectiles that were never actually fielded.
If a vehicle cannot be balanced and enjoyable within the framework of Warthunder, it should just be removed and be done with.
There are better things to give one’s attention to in this game.
The desperate need for an APHE round for a British tank is not the issue we should be focusing on, it’s a symptom of a much bigger issue, namely the solid AP vs APHE balance in this game.
Besides, I was talking about the 75mm T45 HVAP. I have no problem giving M61 with filler to the brits.
Its almost like, and hear me out on this, those 2 nations invested more into heavy tank production than others
It’s not a historical game though as we are so often told.
Funnily enough, WoT doesn’t really have many (if any at all) vehicles from the 60s (and WT is the better game because of that), so your point is completely nullified.
No it’s not it’s about you being an idiot and being determined to win some kind of argument in a thread that long since lost its way if indeed it ever had one.
What are you even responding to? What is your point?
If the game wasn’t “historical” we would’ve had the Rhino tank from Red Alert 2 and Scorpion from Halo in the game by now. It is clearly historical, for certain aspects while not others.
@GoneToTheAether
You have referenced this round before, I assumed you already knew about it. Anyway, here’s some info: 75mm T45 HVAP ammunition | WW2Talk
