well there is 1.3 million rp in rank 5 and 600k in ranks 3 and 4 so the extra ge is worth it but it is still a lot

The 3.7 BR vs 4.0 BR would be tempting to me. but the I think better mobility and high ROF gun might be better. Though I’ve heard it burns through ammo really fast
Yeah, if I do get one in the sale. That is going to be a really really hard debate myself, but coastal is the one line of Britain im not at top tier, so its defiently tempting
it would also cost 4.8 million SL to buy and crew all rank 5 kinda crazy for 4.0-3.3 ships
Yeah, Coastal should be treated as it is, as the BR 1.0-4.0 of naval and coastal shouldnt be treated as an entirely seperate thing like ground and air are.
The Whitby will only face 5.0 spawns if you uptier it… the knox will be the worst it will see
One gets coastal spawn, other gets oceanic spawn. One is a ptrol boat, other is a sub hunter / Frigate. Different roles

Wihitby only has 2x 4.5" guns. Though that is still enough to actually fight a destroyer though, but yeah…

But did just take them both into the test drive, definetly need to watch your ammo usage, I burnt through it instantly.
you also have the problem on whitby that you have limeted fireing archs over the direct front
Yeah, that I dont mind too much, Id basically just island peek in it. But I couldnt test what the mortars are like as they are a mod which you dont get because you havent bought it (I wish all test drives were spaded)

Yeah, Coastal is the neglected tree of war thunder, and i dont blame people for not playing coastal, the economy for it just sucks.
the sl modifer on le-orla is quite bad for a premium boat but it seems that non blue water spawning boats have bad modifiers
Yeah, in some respects they treat coastal as they should, as the early BRs of naval as a whole. and then in others, like GE cost for those premiums and the RP/SL costs of the ships on the tree, as if it was top tier. Its really wierd.
some days i wish they would merge the trees back together if that lowered the cost of the top tier of coastal now i have the top tier of blue water. but if they do the thing where you can unlock helis in ground but for navel where you can unlock coastal with blue water or it goes either way
That is what I want more than anything, I dont mind the trees being seperate, it makes it way easier than having to deal with direct lines of ships, that way we could have 4 rows for coastal but keep 3 for bluewater or vice versa.
But just being able to grind the coastal tree with bluewater would be huge, even with a notably RP tax. I have all bluewater researched, so just being able to dump those RPs into coastal would be such a QoL improvement
