“What makes you think that this is the length of APFSDS?
Such calculations based on pictures are not accepted.”
Not a very nice response as far as customer relations go. You left no way of responding to your question since you closed the issue so I’ve opened this thread. Photogrammetry is a well known practice which is used in many industries. I use it for basic shapes when reverse engineering if 3d scanning isn’t an option. If you have one or more known dimensions, you can usually get within a millimeter of accuracy. More than enough for a game. You know, I suspect the museum visits the Gaijin team has gone on does that exact same practice. Many people questioned why Gaijin used magnetic rulers when measuring the Abrams, this is why.
I think you are reading into it to much, it might be a language barrier thing. If it’s just attitude then your criticism is valid but we can’t really know for sure going by just that text. Emotions and intonations are really hard to interpret through text without any additional indicators (for example “?!?” at the end would absolutely be unacceptable in my opinion).
it’s a valid question, the biggest issue is not knowing the lenses of the camera so any perspective skewing the image can’t be taken into account accurately. Photogrammetry can be used very effectively but it’s also a “trust me” sort of argument (if the reader has limited knowledge) as if you don’t do the calculations yourself you can’t know if they did it correctly.
It’s way better to DM one of the Technical moderators found in the list here:
They will be able to tell you more information and you can ask how to go about it in the future if Photogrammetry turns out to be unaccepted no mater the circumstances.
Because the information needs to be in the report, not linked to only. [Edit: as in, the issue needs to be discribed and explained and all image attached, you can still link to the forum post with “for additional context and information see here” or something to that effect.]
Here is a guide to use for future bug-reports and/or historical innaccurasies:
Also the same for Italy, like finally fixing the Lynx.
Nah, joke aside they don’t care. They even made the mode anonymus so that we can’t noticed how the same mods keep closing all the bug report about some Nations for no reason
Actions speaks louder than words and gaijin keep showing with their own actions that they don’t care
You’re absolutely right, I interpreted it incorrectly and for that I apologize.
Most of the people on the forums are stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to model improvements. Most of the US stuff is still considered confidential and will remain there for eternity. Browsing the unclassified files reaped nothing as far as weapons testing goes for the HSTV-L.
The trust me side of it, isn’t exactly that. If we can get a developer to logically say “hey there’s something off about this” then there is a possibility they will look into it further. I suspect only the glaring issues are what will peak a devs interests. A millimeter here or there or a mechanic that has no effect on game performance should be ignored.
The only mention was in a congress report which spoke of the Delta 6 performance not Delta 3 (which is the version in game).
I agree with you about perspective and skewing but we have to remember, the ammunition in question is from the 70s that never made it past testing. Acquiring any further information is likely impossible. Close enough should be sufficient, it’s not like we’re re-manufacturing the Hstv-l. Right? Right…? :)
While I understand where you’re coming from, it’s much clearer to explain certain details with pictures in sequence. Photo with description, photo showing the inconsistencies with another description. Perhaps it would be beneficial to redesign the bug report site in a forum type setting.
