Hi, with the sales finally here I’m looking to grab a high-tier premium pack, but I’m totally stuck between USA and USSR. Who’s actually doing better at top tier right now? Just a heads up, I’m only interested in the ground lineups — I don’t care about planes or CAS at all, just want to know which nation has the better tanks and overall meta for ground battles. Which one is more worth the grind for a tank-only player?(I have china 12.3 and germany 10.7)
For very top tier GRB, between RU and US, probably RU.
One big reason at the moment: Pantsir SM-SV.
And then you also have multiple CAS with the Kh-38MT. 4 of the RU planes can carry them.
And their top heli with fire and forget ATGM’s. The Mi-28NM

well american tanks have much better mobility like 10x better but their armour has lots of weak spots. Also the american premium teams at top tier are just bad they are mostly new players who have picked up premiums so winning is also rare. With russia your armour is actually very good, you can survive headon engagements with enemy tanks, and at 12.0 with new american players your armour is actually really worth it but with russia mobility is pain. Your max reverse is 12 kmph (t80ue1) and 4kmph (all t72 and t90s) this prevents you from backing out of engagements. But on the plus side cas wont be much of a problem with the pantsirs and also enemy tanks are mostly easy to pen.
for recomendations i would prefer if you get 10.0-11.0 premiums they will help you till toptier and also you will get less of the cas spam.
for usa- the m1kvt is a good tank with amazing mobility and a good gun which enables it to flank very nicely.
for russia- the t80uds are amazing at offense, their good armour at 10.7 means you will survive a lot of hits plus its engine is decently mobile with good acceleration when going forwards (4kmph reverse and 60kmph forwards), the 3bm42 is also an excellent round.
but if you are looking for something quick with a strong autocannon, you can get the 2s38 or the bmd4 both are excellent vehicles with thermals and good guns with the bmd at 9.0 is extremely strong and can get you nukes easily.

+1, this is a fairly significant reality playing US in GRB.
I’ve already grinded China at 11.7 (enjoyed the VT4) and Germany with the Leopard 2A4 and 2PL. Now, I’m looking to try out NATO top-tier properly. CAS hasn’t been a big issue for me so far, but I’m torn between getting the M1A1 HC or the T-80UE-1. My friend, who plays the T-80BVM and Su-34, recommends going for the US tree.
M1 KVT is a very nice tank, I’ve started playing it again cuz I got it when the BMPT’s were 10.3 (my win rate is 30% lol). Now that 10.7 is free, it’s got great mobility the only trade offs are that there is no armour except when hull down and the shell is a little underwhelming. The 12.0 click bait is decent but I tried playing 12.0 with my AIM and Russia just steamrolled everything and half the team was a level 3 in a click bait. For a Russian lineup you can’t go wrong with the 2S38 and the 10.7 T-80

MBTs.
Probably the US. Abrams is very strong, easily top 3 MBT families at the moment, whilst the soviet tanks can be a bit annoying at times, arent that strong overall anymore.

This changes the equation. Whilst the soviets dont have equal MBTs to the US… they are stronger in every other category.
BMPT is the best AFV and incredibly OP, 2S38 is still very relevant at top tier and is also one of the strongest AFVs.
Pantsir S1, Pantsir SM-SV and BUK-M3 are all probably within the top 5 SPAAs in-game currently.
(then I know you said you dont care about CAS, but soviets are much stronger there too, so at the very least, playing soviets means you dont have to fight against soviet CAS)
US players also seem to be quite bad on average, especially wallet warriors in the Clickbait and tend to quit early game quite often.
Future
I honestly dont know which one is the most future proof. Air and Naval have seen soviets get some outright crazy addiitons that leapfrog some of the competition and usually given the benefit of a doubt when it comes to additions. So, Id give a pretty good chance that the soviets will get a very powerful new MBT in the near future. Whilst for the US the SepV3 may not be that big of an upgrade, especially if they limit all nations top tier shells to what they already have.

if you like leopards then i would suggest you the m1kvt, it is very mobile like the leopard and also has a good gun russian mobility takes time to adjust. russia is also good but that is if you can play defensive properly and can also take the offensive nicely.
also i never grinded the chinese tree, how is it tho? i am indian so idk why i never get the mood to play china
