I don’t know which one is best for kills and grinding, but I feel like I get no kills with the AIM-54A. I’m now grinding the f14b (mods), so stock. Secondly, I’m barely able to get more than 1 kill with the f14b (especially with the aim54a, long range, of course), but whichever one is better for the RP and SL grind please help
I don’t think there is any real difference between any of the Phoenix missiles (maybe a few extra G on the C/C+), the F-14B is my choice due to the extra CM pods and it has better engines which help for getting to alt faster, which is extra important with the variable thrust changes to the phoenixes.
I think the F-14D spam has forced people to wake up to the Phoenix missiles a bit more and they are quite dependent on people not taking defensive actions, plus there are more people spamming them so there is a higher chance another F-14 will hit the plane you are shooting at first.
imo the F14B. there is quite literally in every sense possible, no difference between the AIM-54C and A, so that can be ignored, the B does get BOL pods, 9Ms, and 7Ms, however, it also is guaranteed to face SU30 spam every match, which it gets outclassed easily. the F14A atleast 50% of the time gets to fight just phantoms and ocassional MIG-29s and F18/16/15s, which makes it much more bearable imo
Different blocs for different roles.
F-14B is a revised version with an emphasis on ground attacking. F-14A is the initial production version.
That said, the Bombcat has improvements the F-14A probably doesn’t have (in game).
They are both mid, but the B is better for the BR it’s at. Both are facing garbage matchmakers, most of the time, they will face 13.3-13.7 jets.
The ancient RWR of the F-14A is a pita, especially if you are facing uptiers, which you usually will. The F-14B has far better avionics and all-you-can-eat countermeasures, plus AIM-9M.
If you want to have a good time, skip both lol
