Still far too many jets that don’t have flares in the current game to be putting more shit like R-73s in to face them.
I gave that as an example. I’m not suggesting introducing a missile that isn’t already in the game. Yes, the R-73 is too strong.
The R-27R would be fine.
My main complaint is that Harrier and Su-25t\su-39 are at a level where the planes have everything at once, you take the f-14 and you can kill all the Su-39s in the sky and continue to drop bombs in peace.
Right now the Harrier and Su-39 are at the bottom of the food chain. This is not a situation where they have a chance, but a situation where they are powerless.
You have only R-60M and the enemy has 600 heat traps. It’s just useless and ridiculous.
R-27Rs would be much better, plus they would require giving up some of the A2G armament.
Likewise for the Harrier, it needs medium range missiles too
There are zero aircraft at 11.3 or higher that lack flares.

As far as I know regular R-73s don’t go to flares either. Besides, SU-39 can potentially meet 10.3, where such planes are still found.
It seems to me that it is more logical for SU-39 to get R-27R, for which it has its outboard radar.
It’s stupid that the radar that guided Kh-31, Kh-35 and R-27R missiles now has 0 missiles to guide with it.

As far as harrier goes, there really is nothing you can add that would be balanced.

The DOD website clearly says this. But it has a funny typo, instead of R-27 they wrote X-27. This is definitely a typo, as it is specified in the A2A section and the Su-39 could never use the Kh-27 missile.
Also many other sources say R-27. This is not a matter of speculation
