Today 7th of September is our independence day here in Brazil. We are one of the biggest communities in game for sure. I see my fellow countrymens very often in battles carrying flags, nicknames or being part of some of our squads… And despite all this, we had no content today. Not even a sale, camo for some of our vehicles (would love one for the gripen E) or just some decal. We lack a lot of decals… Very sad Gaijin. We expected more.
Completely agree with you. I love War Thunder, but it feels like Gaijin thinks that making a single video two years ago was enough to satisfy our entire community. It’s a shame considering how massive and active the Brazilian player base is.
I would absolutely love to get the official FEB (Brazilian Expeditionary Force) emblem, and I’d also love to have at least the ‘A Cobra Está Fumando…’ text description. Our military history is so rich and full of potential content for this game. I really hope Gaijin hears us and drops something later this week—even if it’s just a late sale for the AMX or a special camo.
Could be something shown off in a few hours, usually if there’s a mircro date event they’d be a few hours/ a day late (observation based off my country, with past micro events).
“Where is Brazilian content”
Moves, monkey paw
Brazilian cruiser Bahia gets datamined for this update… (going off how much many in this community detest vessels & what better way to celebrate a national day, than to add something that exploded, by gunnery accident). Apologies, this was meant as a joke, I suck at written comedy.
The smoking snake decal and ‘A Cobra Está Fumando…’ text should definitely be in the game
Maybe even a title: “A Cobra Vai Fumar!”
From wikipedia, the history of these:
Spoiler
Due to the Brazilian regime’s unwillingness to get more deeply involved in the Allied war effort, by early 1943 a popular saying was: “Mais provável uma cobra fumar um cachimbo, do que a FEB ir para a frente da luta” (literally: “It’s more likely for a snake to smoke a pipe than for the FEB to go the front and fight”).
Before the FEB entered combat, the expression “a cobra vai fumar” (“the snake will smoke”) was often used in Brazil in a context similar to “when pigs fly”; soldiers in the division subsequently called themselves Cobras Fumantes (literally, Smoking Snakes) and wore a shoulder patch depicting a green snake smoking a pipe.
It was also common for Brazilian soldiers to write on their mortars, “A Cobra Está Fumando…” (literally: “The Snake Is Smoking…”).
After the war the meaning was reversed, signifying that something will definitively happen in a furious and worse way. With that second meaning the use of the expression “A Cobra Vai Fumar!” (literally: “The Snake Will Smoke!”) has been retained in Brazilian Portuguese until the present.
Happy Brazil independence day then!
Gaijin seems to be skipping certain national days now for some reason, a few years ago there was a massive bunch of sales and decals etc for Australia day, this year? not even a mention… Could just be oversight though, I imagine it’s a bit tricky keeping track of all of them.
