Would it? Because, assuming your suggestion would get implemented, to me the only clear candidates are arietes.
What about light tanks? Or IFVs that dont have any ATGM?
most of them do really good because they either have speed or auto cannons which both are “meta”
from what I see, the worst MBTs in the game are-
1: Ariete
2: Challenger 2
3: Leclerc
those three have nothing going for them besides really skilled teams because they’re so bad only good players can actually use them properly
You dont have that many battles at top tier, do you?
my favorite vehicles besides the challenger 2 is the Begleit panzer and the PUMA, which are definitely meta, also in that category is the 2S38

I just wanted to add on here.
When I first started playing top tier tanks, I also wanted third person thermals. The more I played the more I realized why this was a bad idea.
Switching to gunner/commander view requires you to actually position yourself intelligently. I don’t want third person thermals at this point. I think it would introduce more players positioning and playing poorly. We already have enough of that.
But does that really hold true to British mains?

It holds true of the game itself.
We don’t need any one nation getting special treatment. Especially unrealistic ones just to make the game easier for a specific nation.

There are few things that can be done before adding brand new features.
Fixing the models, reload rates can be adjusted, same as BRs…

Well you can always make a mod and test it that way, or make proper suggestion. If that suggestions gains enough traction it might lead somewhere.
But as i said, imo it would be broken and id say most of the veterans would say the same.

There’s a lot of wants on these forums. A specific feature for a single nation that provides an unrealistic advantage isn’t most people’s concern. The discussions that gain the most traction here provide empirical data. They show why a suggestion either matches real life or why it needs to deviate.
I think Arma supports something like what you want. That may be an option for you? I used to play that a lot more when it was “the military simulator”. It’s a lot less simulation these days. 😕

Autocannons and ATGMs are not meta at all, autocannons force you to play hyper aggressive to get any advantage from them and you die immediately the instant you end up facing something frontally like another flanking MBT, ATGMs are glacially slow in comparison to 1600+m/s darts and are comparatively easy to avoid.
That you thought 3rd person thermals were a good idea should have been telling enough I guess. It was already in game as a glitch and was extremely broken.
Leclerc should be the second worst. At least Challenger can survive some rounds but leclerc pretty much dies to anything.
Challenger also has better reload rate (all Chally 2s) or much, much more penetration (Chally 3) depending on the variant.
The edge the Leclerc has in mobility disappears once the Challenger 2E is reached as well …
I put the Leclerc higher because at least that thing has good mobility
