Basically title, But when playing realistic battles at around 10.7+. Is there any real use to taking the AGR’s?
Things like the apkws on the humming bird or later the a10C.
Would it be better to just avoid using them if bombs or normal rockets work better?
Ultra light guided munitions generally aren’t that worthwhile on aircraft in warthunder. Even things like vikhrs which are a solid pick on helis aren’t that graet on the planes that carry them supposedly.
Technically the guidance kit is compatible with most, if not all combinations of warhead and fuze options the Hydra can use.
We could have HEAT APKWS , even Proxy APKWS, but having 40 high precision mini AGMs is something gaijin dislikes.
Being SAP-HE (and HE , but that one is limited strictly to hunting helicopters) , it can only pen light stuff or roofs.
Pretty good if you want to overwhelm SPAA, but they require a constant laser , and you must launch them so that they land close to the target . ( The seeker can only see the laser at a pretty close range, something like 2-3 km, and it has a pretty narrow FoV)
I don’t even know what card they are pulling, given that any attempt to get them to add more APKWS variants ended in “forwarded as suggestion”, which means essentially nothing.
AGR-20s are nigh useless on Helis too, sometimes a niche pick for the AH-6 and OH-58 to fit more anti-gepard tech in Heli EC while grinding for Hellfires but that’s pretty much it.
Only time i had fun with AGRs was in Ground Sim, where i was using the AH-6M and 14 HE APKWS to hunt other helis ( with limited success, but it was fun)
