I would probably do the XP-50 as the other are higher BR and I’m not that good at the game yet.

In case you buy one: Avoid fights with experienced players - XP-50s flown by rookies are easy prey for any experienced pilot.

The XP-55! It is super good!

It does, but you can only do it after you buy and crew the aircraft. There’s an option that lets you test aircraft in a battle against AI in the mission editor at the bottom left of the test flight screen. :)

There’s also just the test flight itself, but the ai planes don’t shoot back, and you can only shoot them down in realistic or sim

Good choice. Another one I would recommend is the US captured Zero, and the BTD-1 if you’re looking for a decent option for CAS in Ground RB.

Have in mind that my recommendation regarding gaining some experience upfront was not solely aimed to learn the mode and ACM in general - gaining crew XP regarding g-lock resistance etc are usually not considered by most veterans.

So it is rather easy to g-lock a rookie player with high-speed & high g-load maneuvers.

Therefore i see recommendations of XP-55s for rather new players with mixed feelings - as it shines just in 2 disciplines: 1) Headons and 2) High-speed maneuverability / turn. For using the last you need some crew XPs, otherwise you can’t use the full potential. As soon the XP-55 is low it is nothing more than a sitting duck as the plane is actually quite slow.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the american captured A6M2. Very easy to fly and amazingly still rank 3, unlike the japanese one.

True, but it’s not like japan has a huge playerbase that you’re guaranteed to run into them every match.
