The AIM 120D is on the live server, and it’s really, really bad compared to the C.
Yes, for some it’s whining, but for those who like playing US vehicles, it’s just another bad joke at the players’ expense.

It’s the same, or basically the same, think he really meant it had no improvement over C and that is the ‘bad’ part. AMRAAM-C is the one really due a buff, but due to the current balance that is not possible. AMRAAM-C should really just have been a hornet special to balance the terrible kinetics, so we wouldn’t have to deal with all this crap.

One could argue about what “more power” (as I’ve termed it) actually means. But what’s undeniable is the fact that the D model has exactly the same, or rather, worse performance than the C model.
The issue there is that, it doesn’t say what improved kinematically, maybe it turns better, maybe it has better endgame energy maybe it has another booster sustainer configuration like the A/B. That alone will not be enough to buff the aim120D there has to be meaningful data to adjust how the aim120D should preform. While I do think we should get a minor motor improvement the reality is there isn’t enough data to make a change that isn’t based entirely off guess work
Data is available for the C variants. The actual motor didn’t get upgraded again until D-3, but since C-5 is already fine on so many jets they won’t break the balance for it.

Well it’s not like EFs aren’t crazy good so from balancing sense it is fine. Really gaijin shouldn’t have given EFs AMRAAM C in the first place, should’ve kept it as a sort of niche thing to cover up the huge kinetic disadvantage of F-18s.
120d on the f15c ge works pretty well compared to the pl12a on the j10c and j15t
On the f16c and f18e its pretty much just ok
Overall its doing just fine
Cant say the same for the pl12a

even the normal PL12 is better than 120D for most game modes, idk what you are trying to complain about

It better within 15 km yes
past that any decent player can make it run out of energy with a couple turns at high speed
The only good thing about the pl12a is that it has better tracking because of gnss
Everything else is the exact same as the pl12
When you are fighting things like the ef, rafale, su 30sm or F15c ge in either a j10c or a j15t pl12 cant really compete
Missile isnt bad dont get me wrong but it doesnt manage its energy very well
120D isnt it at all. Probably isnt helping the missile being on terrible TT jets.
and they can do the same thing to 120D…
its almost like long range performance doesnt matter all that much with how easy it is to bleed a missiles speed or notch it
From my limited personal experience I have had more success with the 120B/C-5 on the new F-16C than with PL12 on the J-15T, but maybe that will change when I get more flight performance modifications to improve the platform.
Doesn’t need to be long range
20 km is usually the range people launch at when jousting
30 km is more if you want to put pressure to close the distance
120D does better because it can achieve those ranges without losing to much energy compared to the pl12
Also the fact that the f15 f16 and f18 have more countermeasures which increases their battle endurance the f15 being the better of the 3
that doesnt mean it didnt receive a new propellant which can increase range even if the motor sustained the same size
