I just had a realistic tank battle at 10.3.
I met an enemy Leopard 2AV at around 500m distance. I shot the side of his turret and was not able to deal any kind of damage.
Back in the garage i i tried to find the spot where i hit the Leo but couldnt find the spot at any angle.
Can someone explain what happend here?
Ah i was playing T72 AV Turms shooting the high penetrating apdsfs
You have literally shot one of the strongest armour parts of the leopards.

Yes, there’s only a 50% chance of it penetrating. Even if it did it would have disabled it gun breached. he was unlucky.
You sure? in the hitcam it looks like i hit just a bit right of that middle welding. So in the garage it shows a green marker right there with possible kill on the breach, gunner and loader and some other stuff when i put it right there
I can’t tell exactly which part all I know it the annoying part. the front of the turret 50% chance of penetrating. if you shoot it a bit behind it defintely will do a massive damage.
you can see the german cross in the hitcam which is located in the middle of the back section, so my shot should be right in the middle of the side profile of the turret. And i kniw the annoying part youre talking about but even there i would kill his breach or his optics but you see i hit exact nothing xD
Like here you can see the cross, and if i am right, i hit right underneath the hatch
Yeah, I don’t know… You might or might not have hit the strongest point. So you probably as well just got gaijined. And also what shell are you using? recently 3mb15 dosen’t deal any damage at all.
i dont know the exact name but the T72 AV has 2 apdsfs, one with a bigger front getting smaller to the back and one which is straight. i used the straight one

No idea. If it happens again then there surely something wrong.

yeah cuz when i recreate this exact shot in the garage it pens easily and destroys 70-100% of the turret

If it was a more modern leopard, then it would have been very understandable why it isn’t penetrating… But it was the paper armor leopard.

yeah exactly, thats why i was like “what the hell?!” if you are ingame: just testshoot the leo 2av in the garage with anything. it will pierce through it like my anger through my keyboard 😹
