What’s Next for U.S. Top-Tier Jets After the F-15E?

that is a short time tho? by all accounts

Haha that would indeed be very funny

Yes but IRST doesnt give the targeted aircraft any kind of warning.
the Typhoon can find, lock and fire off Meteors using PIRATE as the DL

Only warning would be the Meteor in LOAL mode acquring the target, reigniting its booster and screaming to a Gen 5 airframe at mach 3ish

that is assuming the extremely unlikely event that the typhoon is going unnoticed,

It is, it’s making a lot of assumptions
Neither side have an EAWACS aircraft
We know Stealth cant hide from EAWACS aircraft which would mean both sides could engage through DL as soon as their respective weapon systems are in range.
Meteor has LOAL mode which excels in this capacity, JATM has the same as does the R-77M

We return to the who shoots first likely wins

as far as we know r77m doesnt even exist yet i dont think it should be considered as an addition to the game, and we already know the max range of r-77-1 as there is pretty concrete video evidence

do we though? awacs can pick up stealth aircraft much easier and it likely negates part of the advantage but there is no reason to believe it nullifies it completely especially if we start bringing EW into the equation. and as far as war thunder goes awacs isnt a thing for now. im mostly discussing this in the context of the game.

B-1B . bruh

How would you get ranging data from a passive sensor like that?

It uses a trigometric ranging system that allows it triangulate the position of an aircraft.

PIRATE lacks a laser rangefinder, it instead uses kinematic ranging and trigonometry to determine range to a degree as accurate as the radar.

It can queue A2G weapons but only self designating and GPS ones, so current Brimstone’s aren’t relevant, but future ones will be more than sufficient with MMW queuing from PIRATE.

Ah ok. F-35 can do this too no?

I dont know about the F-35 its pretty classified stuff.
Probably similar to the LEGION pod designed by Lockheed?

https://www.lockheedmartin.com/en-us/products/f-35-lightning-ii-eots.html

F-35 has LRF in its IRST+FLIR+TGP complex.

Yes I read that, pretty cool systems! EOTS on the F-35 is more to replace the need for an externally mounted TGP runing the stealth profile of the aircraft.

PIRATE was designed as a counter to low RCS/Stealth aircraft, the West feared Russia would produce Gen 5 aircraft that the onboard Radar could not be relied upon.

I heard it either has or is getting a triangulation capability for the irst

No proof that it is a capability on deployed RWR but there is public domain proof that it is possible to defeat LPI radar techniques. However it carries signficant penalties to RWR performance.

Ah, new F-16C with AN/APG-83 SABR AESA radar after F-16C (Block 50) but battle rating 15.0 minimum

I don’t know gaijin call F-16C PoBit or F-16CM, but integraded to the lastest variant of Litening pod (Large Aperture) in the future

I edited to F-16CG (Block 40) pre-CCIP with AN/APG-68(V)5 radar but armament configured mix late 1990’s and in the iraq freedom (not included AN/AAQ-33 Sniper XR pod, JHMCS, AIM-9X, AIM-120C-7, GBU-54(V)1/B Laser JDAM and GBU-39/B SDB I)

LANTIRN AN/AAQ-14 targeting pod (LANTIRN 2000 standard)
