It’s just in a broad sense. Not everybody plays everything and there’s such a thing as too many options… but people should be able to tell where do they have more fun, be it whatever mode it is.
ARB: every BR except Rank 5 (7.0-9.0). Im not a fan of the compression at them and I just cant click with any of the aircraft. Rank 6+ is where I tend to spend most of my time
ASB: When I was playing (not touched it in over a year) then usually rank 6+
GRB: Rank 6 or 7 (9.3 to 10.3) is where I usually play. I just cant get into the lower tiers, and higher than that is cancerous at the moment.
Coastal: I cant really ocmment on because ive only gotten to Rank 3 so far.
Bluewater: Rank 4. I use to enjoy rank 6 as well, but its been unplayable for the past year. Ive been meaning to try out rank 5 again though at some point.
Rank 4 is peak ground and air imo. It never feels like I have to sweat super hard to do ok, and most of my trees are around there, giving a lot of options for vehicles to play and unlock
(And also peak ground balance. Heavies can actually take a hit, spg guns are usually monsters, light tanks are fast, and mediums are exceptionally medium)
I play the BR range from 3,7 up to 9,3 (ranks III up to VI). Ground realistic, tanks only. I have vehicles below and above that range, but I touch them rarely.
1.0 to 3.7 (ranks 1-3). From 4.0 and onwards people tend to get sweaty and the battle heavily depends on how many people know what vehicles are actually good/how to use them properly.
Low-tier is intuitive and as easy as 2+2: everything (sans some exceptions like B2 ter) pens everything, most tanks have some clear advantages and disadvantages that people can easily get hands over, and the maps in rotation are engaging in a good way – no f**king Fields of Poland or Sinai 3x3 km versions of such maps
7.3 IJN (Despite the kongou class being mid and the british 35.6cms being absolutely garbage, the kongous are annoyingly durable and the shells aren’t cheeks)
5.3 britain (because Dido is the only light cruiser class britain ever made that’s actually worth a flying fart)
6.0 germany (hipper class, my beloved) although I don’t play it often
Looking at Rank to era, I’m guessing this was originally meant for AF? As time periods are are mix for GF & especially NF…
NF:
Rank I, 1910’s - 1960’s
Rank II, 1920’s - 1950’s
Rank III, 1920’s - 1990’s (E, 1990’s as well, not 1970’s)
Rank IV, 1910’s - 1980’s
Rank V, 1900’s - 1990’s
Rank VI, 1910’s - 1960’s
Rank VII, 1920’s - 1950’s
GF,
Rank I, 1920’s - 1950’s
Rank II, 1930’s - 1960’s
Rank III, 1930’s - 1950’s
Rank IV, 1940’s - 1970’s
Rank V, 1940’s - 1990’s
Rank VI, 1950’s - 2000’s (specifically 2009)
Rank VII, 1960’s - 2010’s
Rank VIII, 1970’s - 2020’s
AF is basically similar to above for all ranks, heh Rank VI with a 2005 aircraft… (modernised 1950’s airframe).
But for your main original poll, Rank IV-V-VI (uhh, two options only) for late war/ post war - (early/late) cold war/ Vietnam War for all modes. Although for NF, that would technically be Rank I-V for era of technology.
For me it’s Rank I-IV, as soon as the lineups leave WW2 I rapidly lose interest. I am very slowly grinding to the end, but it’s a chore more than anything.
Ranks II–IV battlefields are fun. Rank III is the one I play the most.
I like Rank IV too, BUT FIGHTING POSTWAR MBTs AND LIGHT TANKs WITH WW2 TANKs IS NOT VERY ENJOYABLE.
High tier ranks can be fun but i just refuse to play anything i dont already have spaded. Stock is such a terrible experience at those tiers its not worth the hours of grind for planes to become playable
It’s a generic description mostly for Ground and Air as Naval ends in WW2 actually. With 3 ticks people should be able to cover one rank they enjoy better in one mode than others. So far I see that Rank V is the ugly duckling, people seem to enjoy III-IV-VI, I and II can be hilarious but they’re of no use for dailies and battle pass. Top rank not being so fun also is my personal experience, but I’m sure Gaijin knows that already.
Seeing how people enjoy rank VI, I might give it a chance and build some lineup for some nation…
