Yak3’s mainly. I find i can bait them into a “turn fight” thats actually an energy trap, i take it into more of a spiral than a turn, but instead of keeping it tight turns i keep them wide, this way i gain sepration and because my engine produces alot more power, i loose less energy while keeping the zero locked ont and turning for me, eventually they drop out of the air with you stalling above them.
Though if you do it too tight or too wide theyll just put their guns on you or they wont commit.
Honestly though, im not the best pilot, but the plane i have alot of success in is the chinese ki84, i have almost 1000 air kills and 300 or less deaths, i have to check. I love the plane so much
I like to go for Yak 3s in my Zero, they show up like they are just going to dominate at low altitude,…that being said, Thank You for contributing mate…Good Luck.
If you don’t wanna get a $20 keyboard and mouse set, then I’d suggest trying out the relative control mode. Basically turns the control scheme to something more like Ace Combat. Just make sure you bind the view in battle axis stuff to your right stick so you can look around without holding free look.
I love to clap Yak-3s trying to set up energy traps - they have zero chance even vs the rather stiff B7A2.
In this replay (replay link) you see a very decent pilot (he scored 7 kills + 1 assist upfront) trying to energy trap me (13:20 - 15:20) whilst i gave him upfront the illusion that he would chase me.
The only place where such traps might work is somewhere between 3 -4 km and then just in a Yak-3 VK 107 of Yak-3U when they can use superior acceleration and top speed whilst having some altitude to work with.
The lower BR Yak-3s try then often to run away that’s why it is important to dictate the location (so far away from his airfield) and circumstances (no risk for getting 3rd partied) of such fights.
I have tried to reconfigure the controller but it becomes so unstable for CAS that it defeats the idea of what I use CAS for. The mouse /keyboard might be an option but I dont sit at a desk like a PC. I have no idea why Gaijin can do simple flight controls for a plane on console.
As someone who sees Ground RB as the main reason to play this game - if I find myself playing ARB (be it for Battlepass or events), I find nothing more relaxing than jumping in the Ayit and dunking on people with the AIM-9D at 9.3.
Speaking of F-15 - been playing the 14.0 F-15I with its 8xAIM120B (after enduring the stock grind), and all I want to do is swap those 8xAIM120B for 8xFakour-90. Certainly a skill issue involved, but I do love them F90.
Yeah, when I first grinded the America TT the only line I didn’t do was the bomber line, so I’m redoing that when I get back to my PC.
It also depends on how competent the enemy is in BVR, because most people will simply turn away and notch once they see the massive contrail coming at them. They’re good for hitting people not reacting or incorrectly decoying though.
Probably the Mitsubishi F-1. It’s fast, has very high AoA, 4(!!!) aim-9P missiles which are so powerful for the BR, a Vulcan cannon and to a lesser extent a PD radar which can come in handy finding other aircraft and slaving the missiles for better off-bore shots.
I’m not particularly good at air (trying to learn now after 10 years :P) and even I manage over a 2 K/D with the thing.
Were you in the simplified tab? Both pointer aim and simplified keep the instructor on and keep it “stable”.
And no excuses for where you sit. If I can make it work with the $20 Chongchow™ keyboard and mouse set and a literal cardboard box as my desk, then you can figure something out.
Has to be the Ki-100 or Ki-100-II, those planes don’t seem spectacular but it’s guaranteed to do at least one thing better than any other plane you’re up against, could perform well against any prop plane if flown right.
Definitely the Finnish MiG-21bis in simulator battles. It’s got 6 great missiles - R-60MK. Most SB players are clueless enough not to flare them. A decent enough radar for IFF too.
I like to fly on the deck at 104% WEP, especially the desert maps like Tunisia or Sinai, then when I see a plane, IFF it with the radar, turn the radar off and flank them for an easy missile kill.
Rinse and repeat.
The Ayit is a very nice plane in its BR…I do not fly my Sea Vixon much, just when I get in the mood, because it doesnt have a cannon or mg.
I hate to see an Ayit, because with its countermeasures, there is not much I can do with it, unless its a sneak attack.
Thank you for contributing.
