What is the point of the profanity filter?

How do my posts keep getting flagged as “inappropriate” when they are just quotes of the messages I’ve received from “the system?”

The message for flags is automatic, generic and not customized for any specific post. Not all things listed in the message applies to every specific case, most commonly the “broke community guidelines” is the one that applies in most cases. If you want specific answers you will have to message the Forum Moderators and ask them about it.

Flags are done by the community, any user can flag any post for any reason. The Forum Moderators then look at the flagged posts and take appropriate action if necessary or dismiss the flag if it’s false. You can read more about the system here: Forum Flagging System Explanation

I think the weirdest thing is randomly getting chat banned, I remember getting chat banned a while ago after playing a single match of sim air, I remember talking to someone about the Aim-7 and some other dude butted in and started swearing, we ignored him and finished the match and I think a week later I got back on and see the chat banned message.

(Tbf, I’ve heard of power tripping devs and such who will just chatban for gits and shiggles or if they are loosing an argument, I’m off topic but I’m not a fan of some of the practices at play)

We don’t handle reports instantly, it depends on how many reports we have in the queue and in worst case it can take up to two weeks for us to handle a report.

This should not (and generally does not) happen, and if it did, you are free to contact the GM’s to get the chatlogs as well as file a complaint if you think the punishment was made with malice. A Game Master issuing such punishments would not be on the team for very long.

Nah, I don’t swear too often and I hadn’t played in over 2 months, this was truly out of nowhere.

That contradicts the previous statement

I checked, it’s was valid and the punishment was issued 15 hours after the message was sent. If you want details feel free to DM me :)

I may have been a bit to absolute in my statement, i’ll edit to make it more accurate. :P

Have you considered banning more cheaters instead of crying about what people say in chat?

We can ignore chat, we can’t ignore that basically every single naval battle has an aimbotter.

I’m not sure what happened to the corpo world for them to get so utterly obsessed with speech policing that they care about it more than they care about their own product.

Two different teams, Game Masters do not handle cheating reports nor cheating bans. Us doing our moderating doesn’t hinder the team that handles cheating from doing their moderating.

Yes, but you shouldn’t be doing this. It’s just $current_year political morality enforcement.

Why would a company waste money on that? Why are they not paying you to ban cheaters instead?

Certain sections of the game are rendered practically unplayable by cheating, zero percent of the game is affected in any way by losers in chat.

It’s all budget allocation…

For example, look at the lon guy at the start of the chat, he’s morbidly obsessed with “slurs”, but admits he doesn’t care about any other bad language. It’s political. For some reason these weirdos have managed to force the entire corporate world to fall for their game.

Basically everyone I know is daily annoyed by cheating in WT, but not a single person cares about anything in chat. If anything, I target people who talk shit in chat. XD

No, all politics are prohibited no matter which stance. It has nothing to do with the game and shouldn’t be discussed in it.

We’re volunteers, we don’t get paid (we do get some in game stuffs though, but nothing crazy).

No :)

Vigilantism is not encuraged and if you break the rules while doing so you will be punished the same as anyone else breaking the rules regardless of your intentions.

As for cheating; they are regularly banned, you can check the monthly Fair Play posts if you want more info, here is the most recent one from 5 days ago: ( Fair Play: September 2026 ) .

Break what rules?

The whole purpose of the game is to kill the enemy.

Don’t tell me Gaijin is paying you GE or premium account or something for doing a straight up job…

No idea why the boss didn’t adopt the chinaman ways of running their company where one person do five person’s work bro multiple jobs for single salary aka one man show. That way they can change new car every year to show off how successful they are, like when you have expensive car then you can start changing beautiful girlfriends like we change our underwear. Damn dream life bro

That is consistency bro. In a monkey’s paw way. Consistent at being inconsistent.

Having actual humans moderate in game chat while there’s a profanity filter is wild.

moderating a forum is not a job and getting in game items is definitely enough compensation for it.

A profanity filter can only handle known swear words. But how should it handle an offensive phrase that contains no profanities, but is offensive? Like “I hope you and your loved ones die in a terrible accident”?

Also, it’s easy to just change a letter or two of a profane word, and the filter will let it slip through, even if the meaning is very apparent and offensive to humans immediately.

AI is no where near up to the task… AI would create a million problems that would require a million staff members to fix…

Gaijin understands the need for Humans to be in control, since AI would just cause far too many problems… And we are from all over the world, so we know what to look out for and we understand the technicalities of how we communicate online and in different languages / words, and or things that just maybe lost in translation so to speak…

And we see no need for this discussion to continue, since Staff have answered many things already…
