Like I keep seeing consistantly taunting other players and not being banned and wounder if it’s just because a lot of thos people are CC and get a white card for that or no, taunting and doing your absolute best to make other players feel bad is just allowed
Ive gotten 3 one month chat ban but all the time ive gotten then the insult ive used we’re direct and not polite
TLDR, is it worth reporting players that are taunting other players without using slurs or swear word
Best tip is to go read the TOS as it tells you all the info you need
In reality and in the TOS are completly different, tos just gives gaijin the PERMISSION to punish players based on that, dont mean they will actually do it

that is the reality though, people dont really bother reporting much, and even if stuff is reported it doesnt always end in chat ban
People don’t get punished because people don’t report them, also they likely do get punished somewhere along the line, they can be punished even if a year has passed
I’ve only reported a few people, and that was for intentionally TK me without reason. Only once did i get a message from Gaijin saying they acted on my report.

If you see someone breaking the Rules while you are in a game, make a report
using the in game complaint system.
It’s pretty straightforward and not overly complicated.
That’s all you have to do, the GM’s review all reports and act on them accordingly.
It is not always immediate and can take time in some cases.
But as long as you make a valid report that’s all you need to do.
Then just have faith in the system.
If more players knew how many reports they go thru day in and day out,
I think there would be a shift in the player base’s attitudes towards the Game Masters.
They work very hard, trying to make things better.
By making a valid report when you see . . “misadventures”, you are doing your
part to keep the game less toxic and more . . . “user friendly” if you will.
Other than that, I always say . . “Don’t sweat the small stuff”

It’s left intentionally vague so that the moderation staff’s interpretations can be applied to various scenarios. In theory it makes sense, in practice no one has any idea what’s actually going on behind the curtains. All we know for sure is they are VERY trigger happy with banning.
We Game Masters cannot do anything about tk’ers. The game has an TK autoban system which works on a specific algorithm, of which I cannot get into.
If the TK’er is doing it a lot. Even if they are griefing and not tk’ing, please file a complaint against them via Server Replay Report System.
Secondly, as far as nothing happening if someone is reported, if the complaint is valid, it will be acted on. The thing you need to remember is you may not be the only one filing a complaint against certain players. Therefore, if one of the complaints against them is acted on, and it isn’t the complaint you filed, you will receive no notification at all. If the complaint acted on was the one you had filed, you will receive and in-game notification that your complaint was acted on.
We are only “trigger happy” when the chat logs shows a complaint to be valid. That is when we trigger the ban hammer. If the complaint is not valid, then it is just rejected.
As to OP’s question, what always surprises me is how people think their misbehaviour is minor and not chat ban worthy, for stuff that is really not something one would say to a random stranger in the street. The mechanism of “internet anonymity” is really something not to be underestimated.
What is also observed often - especially in forum conversations like this one here - is that players believe (or claim) they have been chat banned unfairly, remembering some instance that was indeed minor, but then when we look at the cases, the picture looks quite different: We see the whole chat log, and thus can easily retrace why a player has received a certain punishment. And we will also share that info with players who ask, but of course only privately and not shared with the whole forum.

As to trigger-happyness of GM’s, well, in all the years as GM and Senior GM that’s not something that I ever observed. Admittedly, cases where a GM makes a mistake do happen - contrary to popular belief we are human after all - but wrong chatbans really are very rare. We’re also constantly in exchange about these things, so our team is always on the same page about moderation.
What’s also very funny is how the community kind of has developped their own beliefs regarding which GM is “good” or “bad”: You will see here or in other platforms and media “that GM XY has been unfair yet again!!!”, then when one looks at the case you will see that a) that infamous GM wasn’t even involved at all, and b) the chat ban wasn’t unfair at all.
Or even the belief that a GM has singled a player out and tries to get him into trouble as much as he can. Here I have to disappoint you guys: We process literally thousands of reports every month, neither can we keep track of all of you, nor do we really care.
It’s just one of those things about perception and what people want to believe…
And of course if a players is doubtful about his or her chatban, drop us a PM and we’ll have a look and try to sort it out together.
Yeah, in my case it was a ground RB match. i was in a plane and a teammate got killed. he was upset i didn’t help him while my plane was heavily damaged. i landed my plane, and he bombed me on the runway while swearing at me in the chat
