A Tiger is still going to get lolpenned by Heatfs or APDS and if that somehow doesn’t happen the first Hellcat they kill is going to spawn a P-47.
A Hellcat also has a better chance at getting into a good position and relocating, and then even absorbing a shot.
Light tanks are going to be meta in almost all maps, ruining maps just hurts everyone and is at the very least not a result of Gaijin trying to improve things.
If anything they further want to lower the duration of games to increase the grind.
I understand your point but my experience in this game tells me otherwise. They kept spots where you can target the enemy spawn from across the map when those were always the biggest complaints that players had. I asked you how long you played this game cause you probably don’t know that you could do things like put your tank inside the destroyed city blocks in Advance to the Rhine and ambush enemy tanks from there, or flank through the rubble and appear from unexpected places, those things were fun to do. Also, those good spots were always a good counter for the unbalanced teams.
Gaijin probably thinks that new or more recent players have more potential in revenue than “old” players that already bought, grinded or own most things, it’s no different from what some other companies do when they give better offers to new customers than to their already loyal ones. I just want the game to be fun for everyone that is why I defend maps(and mechanics) that can please every player, every playstyle and every vehicle.
Er, hellcats don’t get APDS… One type of hellcat gets HEAT-FS, but, “getting lolpenned and losing 1-2 guys and a horizontal ring even on a well placed accurate shot, because they were forced to accept very low post-pen damage due to armor at range” >>> “dying instantly to HE even if it hits your mudguard or possibly even the flowerbed next to you”
In exchange for zero benefits, if you can’t utilize your mobility to flank on the map anymore. So heavy tanks are better there.
I don’t know that’s the reason they did it, it was just an example based off example assumptions about light tanks being used too much, but it’s merely to illustrate how data CAN be used, not a claim of absolute truth.
Matches also are not only Tiger vs Hellcat matchups, and they can easily pen a Tiger without APDS anyways.
Either way I don’t see why Gaijin would care about the usage of light tanks one way or another as they’re clearly monetizing light vehicles and IFVs heavily.
Yes, with more strict aiming requirements, and less damage done, than the reverse matchup (which is “hit literally anywhere, and obliterate everyone 100% of the time”). So heavy tanks are favored. I didn’t say “invincible gods of death”, just favored.
Either way I don’t see why Gaijin would care about the usage of light tanks one way or another
Like I said, because it drives monetization to get modules to spade TDs and heavies, makes grind longer if you complete more lines of the tree, sells heavy/TD premiums AS WELL as light tanks, etc.
If we asked people how much they have spent on the game and how long they have been playing, how many could give you an exact number off the top of their head?
I have spent more in the last two years than all of the previous nine combined…
(That’s actually amazing coming from a less than 2 months old account. 😅)
I did the opposite, spent much less than before and now I even get GJN from the market(ex-PS4 player).
Adding a collision model to barrels and forcing tank gunner sight camera to always be on in RB is something I have wanted for a long time. Especially since it would make taking cheeky shots through tiny gaps between buildings or shipping containers on some maps much harder to do. And on top of that it would force players to think more about how they approach a given situation on a map since they would need to be aware of where their gun barrel is.
I’ve spent a total of $655 over the past 11 years. Which is cheaper than what I paid a year for FF14 but FF14 actually wanted players to play thier game and they made it good.
I wouldnt mind paying a subscription or more for WT if they actually fixed all the issues
Barrel collision physics would be pretty cool, but hard to implement in order to avoid “unstoppable force meets immovable object” situation.
If forced gunner were to happen, lots of tanks would need to be rebalanced. Nato tanks would have a huge nerf, while RU tanks would get a huge buff. Lower BR German and Russian vehicles would also become much better than their counterparts. I think it would be cool as a limited time event/test, but it would lead to issues if its fully implemented.
Yeah, if anything, I feel this is backwards, NATO sights are right hand of the tank, and fairly on level with the gun, Abram’s excluded, and the Leo’s have a above gun “backup” sight, Russian tanks have neither, but are fairly low to the gun.
P.s. I would also love to see a “multi-player” (actual multiple people controlling) vehicles mode.
This mostly applies to cold war tanks like the T-55 and T-62, and less to the more modern tanks. The change would be most prevalent in mid to high BR tanks.
Both for air and ground this would be pretty neat, especially in sim.
I’ve spent much more than that in WT in less time, premium packs, GE, premium account, not to mention that I’ve built a good gaming PC just to play War Thunder, I started playing on PS4 in 2015. Still very cheap considering the time I’ve spent playing WT compared to other games I bought and barely played on PS4.
Isn’t that what premium account is? I basically got one since I started playing the game but I’m not even asking for them to fix anything, just that they don’t ruin what still works. Recent map changes are not a good sign.
I dont consider premium account to be the same given you can spend $50 and get a whole year of premium, I buy it when it’s 50% off this year being an exception as I have 700+ days of premium remaining. Conversely a subscription is more like $15 a month and is not optional, meaning they have a reasonable means of managing finances where Gaijin F2P model is a bit more volatile.
No, I don’t. I want people to be able to have more realistic engagements over long distances while also offering flanking routes to get in close. Both Fulda and the reworked European Province offer this.
