What if War Thunder gave everyone the same tank budget?

“Team” might’ve been a bit optimistic lol.

There’s some overlap, yeah. But I mean a fixed budget where choosing cheaper tanks lets you afford more respawns. BR spread doesn’t quite do that, and earning spawn points during a match is different from managing a budget you start with.

The tank crews said no. The finance department said yes. XD

Well I can already see certain SPAAG’s & SAM’s crying out in pain for how incredibly expensive some units are.

Your plans sound like the short form content where munitions fired are shown in equivalent costs, but that’s the match itself…

That’s actually a good point. Some systems like SAMs would probably need a different calculation method, because their real-world cost is mostly about the missiles, not just the vehicle itself.

I don’t think the goal should be a 100% accurate price simulation. The idea is more about creating a choice between expensive high-performance vehicles and cheaper vehicles with more availability.

I’m gonna spawn in a RAH-66 and nobody is going to stop me

Your entire team budget is gone before the match even starts. But hey, at least it’s a beautiful way to go. XD

Poland rolling up with an armada of 1 Euro Mig 29s

Couldn’t find my m60 version

I think I already can foresee the outcome, it will become the battle between a group of top tier Russia/Chinese tank VS 1 Leopard 2A7V and a tons of Leopard 1A5

some top tier tanks are actually closer to $46.9 million million like sepv3 (depends on add-ons I think) so china with 2.5 million dollar tanks would have a massive upper hand to my understanding of your idea being able to spawn almost 20 times more than sepv3?

seems like Russian/china bais attempt…and don’t get me started on what your idea would make spawning planes and anti air lets say everyone has 200 million to start with each game you spawn tank get some kills die , spawn a Rafale -$125 million you get a CAS kill die , you spawn anti air -$20 your broke and forced to quit the match

lets use prototypes for example you want spawn f16XL which cost $180 millions in today’s money lets say you want to spawn M247 AA it cost $4 billion dollars now you cant spawn that

Rip B-2 when added and to unlock the F-35 (when added) you pay 1 trillion dollars just to use it:)

Budget is too reliant on local workplace conditions, so no.
Su-30SM2 costs half as much as an F-16 Block 70 to produce…

Looks like we need a “no special deals” rule already lol. Poland brought an air force for the price of lunch.

Glad you like the idea though!

That lone 2A7V is going to have a stressful day lol.

Fair point though. Cheaper doesn’t always mean weaker. Real prices would need adjusting for balance, otherwise everyone just picks the best bargain. I’d want several lineups to be worth choosing, not one obvious answer.

Fair criticism on balance, but favouring Russia or China isn’t my goal. If one tank gets nearly 20 spawns against another’s one, that clearly needs rethinking.

We’d also need comparable costs. A whole development programme, an export package with support and ammo, and the cost of building one vehicle aren’t the same thing. Prototypes make that especially messy.

I’d use real costs as a rough starting point, then adjust for gameplay. The idea is to make cheaper vehicles worth choosing, while keeping expensive ones worth their price. If one nation gets all the advantages, the system has failed.

Forget grinding Silver Lions, we need to start collecting taxes lol.

Fair point. Lower wages don’t make a missile any less lethal lol. Real-world prices clearly wouldn’t work as a direct conversion. I’d still like to try a fixed-budget mode, but the vehicle costs would need to reflect what they can actually do in the game.

I think ammo being locked behind SL every match WOULD make people pretty angry while this is a unique idea adding it would nerf a lot of NATO vehicles just because the cost but if we balance it with the nations currency Chinese tanks would cost around 13,409,202.60 million Yaun but the problem begins with f14A for Iran event which cost fifteen million USD per jet it would cost spawning it 20,958,468,000,000.00 Iranian Rial and spawning something like the Yamato would cost 3 billion USD it would cost ¥1 trillion to ¥3 trillion yen to spawn it and when modern subs comes that would be costing 5 billion USD and Japanese modern submarines costing 76 billion yen if you think su30Sm2 is safe it isn’t that would cost 3,334,851,200.00 Russian Ruble to spawn

One other thing I’m wondering is what about certain prototypes or field mods? There’s probably some vehicles that might not have a listed production cost, would they just be estimated by the cost of individual parts of possible.

(Fun fact, Poland could’ve been even stronger in this hypothetical if the took the 1$ Stryker deal iirc)
