What happened to map diversity

Just from top of my mind i remember times when I played nice big open maps, they had different versions but nowadays its the same cqc maps over and over. I counted yesterday, i played a map bigger than 1,5x1,5 km exactly twice out of 20 battles, and i am talking about tiers from 8,7 to 10,3 i played.

Maps had diversity, for example mozdok, what happened to the bigger version i remember playing. What happened to Normandy bigger version, Fire arc i barely play ( i got the bigger version exactly once last month ). Even poland and eastern europe were reworked to make everybody funneled into close combat, every map i ruined either by hills, rocks making long range engagment impossible or you get into a urban map as a whole. Small sinai, abandoned town, middle east, small tunisia and many more shrunken maps are being fed into the matchmaking.

Problem is everybody plays call of duty instead of war thunder because gaijin wants shorter queue times when i litteraly wait for 1 second to get into the game. Games then last 5 minutes, shorter than world of tanks because tanks are so fast and game is so rapid.

Those small maps are just not enjoyable for higher tiers, its a meat grinder, chaos, adhd house party. I cant remember players whining about big maps when they played kursk every other game back in the days, these maps just dont work at all in todays game.

And what this game has become is not even a compromise in a slightest. Gaijin punishing patient players, sniper tanks, realism in favor of tiktok people with zero attention span. Compromise is big tunisia map - half open half cqc, but you get that map once every 500 games.
Its not enjoyable anymore.

BVVd_ answers these questions in the Q&A with War Thunder Game Director Viacheslav Bulannikov! video himself. TLDR; Smaller maps means quicker action, Mozdok (larger variants) are now Ground Simulator Battles and Custom Battles exclusive, Normandy (or Fields of Normandy) and Fire Arc (even larger variants) are still in the rotation. I remember old 550 m by 550 m Tunisia, it had so much places to be, places to play and snipe targets, I miss the old map design, now is mostly flat.

i understand faster matches but 75% of the matches on these maps are over in 3 minutes when one team just pushes the other spawn. This is how arcade battles should be played and not realistic, what even is the difference nowadays between the gamemodes, they are all the same, same tanks, same maps, same objectives, same pace.
