Only other hilarious things I’d add to your comment is Ka-50’s destroying people beyond render distance at launch… Ka50/52 (or more specifically Vikhrs) being so unfathomably broken that they single-handedly got an entire game mode removed…
I think I had something like 1k+ player kills in 30 odd Heli PVP matches in Ka50 - the most broken, overpowered, unfair, unfun experience I’ve ever had in any video game in my life, and snail just let it rot like this for like two years until they finally canned it when, presumably, enough Ka-50’s had been sold.
Which happens to also be one of the weakest SAMs at top tier. Depending on the situation, only really beaten by the Imp Chapparal. Type 81 vs aircraft its slightly better than the ADATS under ideal conditions, but vs helis its worse
well, it’s missiles are still comparable to Strela’s.
i was just remembering people that japan has something better than the type 99 used in the video which wasn’t shown, they also forgot about using the Chaparral and Imp. Chaparral.

Strela is also a lower BR and not the top SPAA for Russia as they get another 2-3 better ones, and even the Strela has better short range performance and probably equally bad at locking at targets at range.
ill do some research about which missile is better or atleast equal, however there’s probably a big reason of why Tan SAM is higher br than strela.

i’ve also got a word from someone who have both, he says that the Type 81 (C) Tan SAM is way more consistent than Strela’s 9M37M, you see on the screenshots right there it also has 2 times the range and nearly 3 times explosives and way faster than the 9M37M.
False.
81C missile on it’s own blows 9M37M out of the water in pretty much every metric that isn’t locking planes flying perpendicular from 500m away.
It has better range, G-load, speed, trigger radius and amount of HE filler.
The platform is better as well, Type 81C has thermals which will help a lot with finding enemies, especially considering both vehicles lack search radar. That being said, 81C could go down to 11.0 but that’s it as long as Strela remains at 10.3.
It’s okay to have worse stuff as long as BR is properly adjusted. Japan has the best IR slinger but that doesn’t make such a big problem because it’s being properly balanced by BR placing.
Strela has fixed 8x zoom while Type 81C has 6-12x zoom, meaning Strela is the one that’ll use toilet paper rolls as a way to obstruct FOV. It’s so nice that you found yet another win for Type 81C without me even asking.
And Strela wasn’t good enough so the 2S6 was added, and the 2S6 wasn’t good enough so the Pantsir was added, but the Type 81 is still the top tier for Japan supposedly far superior to the Strela when it barely is, and way worse short range so against rushing helicopters the Type 81 cannot even defend the team, for reasons beyond my understanding.
If the Type 81 was 10.3 and 3 other SPAA beyond it, it was a different story.
Look at the absurd CAS weapons from both jets and helicopters the Type 81 is supposed to deal with that the Strela does not face.
it doesn’t really struggle against helis but it really depends on how close they are, i don’t remember the distance of the average heli you could engage.
